I'm a total sucker for gimmicks. During Diamonds and Pearls and the there were loads of nice picture discs, and a shaped picture disk for Sexy MF 12" (in the shape of a ) which was quite cool.
That said, my favourite 12" singles are probably from Around the World in a Day album - funky, distinctive cover art. The "Eye wish U heaven" 12" looked great too. I have LOADS of Prince 12" singles and some 7" singles and I can't listen to any of em coz I don't have a record player. However a while back I saw this cool thing on the net where you can scan in your record using a normal PC scanner and a piece of software will scan the image and churn out an MP3 for you That's cool!

Where in the world did you find a brand new record player? Are they still making them?

I just read an article on how turntables are the hot thing right now, with the most popular being an updated version of the old portable suitcase style. A couple years ago, I found a real nice older one for about $140 in a record store that also sold used equipment.

Don't have any rare vinyl, but I do have the "Virgin vinyl pressing" of Lovesexy; that's pretty cool. My favorite is the Sign 'o' The Times record. I think it sounds better on vinyl than it does on CD.
BTW, I just bought a Sony turntable at Best Buy. It was around $130 or so. They definately still make 'em. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Check out 'What Hi-Fi' magazine - you can buy good record players (non-DJ ones, but excellent quality for regular users) for around £100, most good independent hi-fi shops will have a good range. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
