Prince #7 Artist of All Time on VH1 2NITE 9/9 So I've been watching this VH1 Top 100 Artist's of All Time special for the past few nights and have to say I disagree with almost all of the rankings of this list. I'm sorry but James Brown (#9) and Elvis (#8) deserve to be ahead of Prince (#7) , Michael (#3) and the Beatles (#1). If it was not for James and Elvis none of those three would be who they are or were. Tonight (9/9) will be the episode with Prince at #7. Can't wait to see if Mayte will comment on her ex-genius. This new 2010 list compared to the 1998 list is a true Sign 'O' the Times that the new generation of so called music celebrities have no idea what a "true" artist/musician is or was !?!

I don't think James Brown and Elvis belong ahead of Prince. Prince is a better musician than both of them and has had a much longer and relevant career. By the time Prince's career is finished he'll definitely be the #1 solo artist of all-time, at least.

To be there first doesn't mean your better. To be on a VH1 list doesn't mean is true.

just because someone comes first doesnt mean they are better ?...in no way is elvis better than the beatles....elvis inspired john lennon to start the beatles but they became far more musicially important than elvis....the same with james brown and prince....prince has had far more of an impact than brown ever did...and if an artist inspired by prince ever comes along and has a bigger impact on music than prince did then he deserves to be higher....simples...

How the hell the Beatles make it to number one? Are you kidding me?
It should 1-MJ, 2-Prince and everyone else behind that. The Beatles never put on a wild and great show like Prince. Are you kidding me? I have never seen Paul or Ringo or George or Dopey dress in lace and beat the living shit out a guitar.
It's a travesty!
No one has taste in music any more. I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

I think that The Beatles are quite popular and should definatley be in the top 5 based solely on how popular they are. But you do realize that there is a HUGE chunk of the world that doesn't life The Beatles at all!! I can honestly say I've never met a non-white Beatles fan. Not saying there isn't any, I just have never met any.Plus in all the foreign countries I've been to in S. America and Africa, I've never met another Beatles fan. They just aren't a world group, they appeal in certain parts of the world to certain people. Michael Jackson transcended all race and location barriers. Even more so than Prince, so ideally MJ should be #1 since he's most important on a worldwide level!!Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I 'm with you when it comes to Elvis...Hell I think Chuck Berry should come before Elvis (who was indeed a huge influence, but didn't write his songs like Berry did)..
But James Brown?...Although I maintain that Prince is the superior all-around talent over JB, he has never had the profound impact that JB has had...For god's sake the man was stopping people from rioting in the '60s after MLK's death.....In fact JB is my first choice out of them all.....Ahead of Prince, Stevie W., the Beatles, MJ and everyone else....

the beatles were huge all over the world?....they were huge in the uk before they came to america where they became soo big it was scary!....the top 5 singles on billboard were all beatles songs in april 1964...they had something like 20 songs in the top 100...they have sold around 180 million albums in the usa alone almost twice as many as anyone else and THREE times the amount michael jackson has sold in the usa ??.....250,000 people were waiting in adelaide in australia to welcome them down under...they played gigs all over the world and were huge in japan and ...amazingly....the ussr.....and that is just their commercial impact...i could take up hours taking about how important the beatles are to the 20th century but i will leave it there...

It is the greatest artist of all time. Not live performer. Not singer. Not dancer. The list was bogus. P should have been #2 right behind the Beatles 1980-Present

The list is priceless... So biased. It's only English speaking artists for English speaking people!!!
Jacques Brel or Edith Piaf are huge in French speaking countries (and don't kid yourself: there are many), Django Reinhadt is a guitar god to anybody who knows anything about guitar artists, and Oum Kalsoum and Fairuz are considered the song birds of the Middle East. I could go on.
Did the people who wrote up that list even stop to consider the musical legacy left by artists that are not of the English language realm??

Did anyone see the Prince segment? Who talked about him and what did they say?
