'Picture of Prince featured in new Public Enemy video'
Hmm so what? - I wonder what we should do with this information. Prince is in the great "Even Better Than The Real Thing" by U2 (1991) as well.
I'm sure there's some more showing Prince...?

Cool, Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet got played by me and my college friends over and over...
with that repeat loop of Let's go Crazy.
It's funny how Chuck D turned 180 degrees in his opinion of Prince from what he said back in 1987.
and the people that think the U2 video has Prince... that video is featuring a lot of wax museum replicas of stars... including Prince.

Cool. Thanks for posting this - I had no idea PE was releasing a box set - I gotta get it. I'm digging the jam and the video.
Tomorrow's headline: "Prince Shows How It Really Is by Sending Public Enemy Cease and Desist Over Image in New Video" If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

What did he say in 1987 ufo?

On the pop side, people like Prince and Michael Jackson are presenting a poor image for the black male. Michael Jackson is saying “I’m bad” – now come on Michael, be serious! You’ve got a pet llama and a room full of stuffed animals and you want to say you’re bad? The only thing that’s bad is that fake image he’s trying to pull off.

^Well, I can see he was -deservedly- bashing MJ.
But he only namechecked Prince.

He didn't elaborate on why he thought Prince was a poor image for black males. I always wondered what his beef was, but never saw a follow up to this remark. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

From what I remember reading some magazine interview back in 1987 in some shitty apt my first year at UT in Austin...
He was ragging on weak feminine black pop artist icons in the white man owned media that made the black man look weak and foolish.
PS... anyone remember Marky Mark hating on Prince when Friday Night Videos showed "My Name is Prince"? My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

All you singers are spineless as u sing your senseless songs to the mindless Your favorite subject love is minimal its sex for profit
Im kicking myself right now cause I dont remember which track this is from...its definitely on "It Takes a Nation of Millions...", either "Dont Believe the Hype" or "Bring the Noise", but this is what Chuck thought of R&B artists. Ive never heard him speak ill of Prince though.
But at that time, hip hop (especially PE and NWA) was turning the entire music world HARD CORE.
There was no room for "frilly" folks like Prince and MJ.

The interview I read might have been in SPIN magazine, but it might have also been in some little more indie music mag at the time. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

They used one of recent pics of him, that's cool. About their opinion of him back in the day,...well, is it possible to think that they acknowledged his musical contribution while not liking his image? If that's the case, I'm wondering if they still feel the same. I don't agree with their view at all, which makes me doubt their sincerity in doing this.
So, are they just pretending to give him props to make their video more appealing?

Heck yes! I couldn't believe it. Makes me apprciate PE that much more! Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

But Chuck D worked with him since... they must have explain things, discuss and understand... "open your heart, open your mind

Maybe they're appreciating him for being a music innovator, first & foremost.
There're many artists in rap music that showed admiration for his musicianship despite what they felt toward his image.
I don't think its a shot against their sincerity, they just view it from a different perspective.

Chuck D and Prince have been tight for a while . Remember he was on "Undisputed" on the Rave album. Funny thing is PE dissed R&B artists back then but Prince dissed rappers on "Dead On It" Black album. I guess they grew to respect one another over the years. To Sir, with Love

Yes ur right, they do respect and appreciate each other now. Prince is mentioned(in a good way)on countless of hiphop tracks. FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.
