I am yet to listen to it...after all the bad reviews I just couldn't...but i've been hearing Future Soul Song is one of the highlights of the album...some say its like Future baby mama ( 1 one my favs)..I just listened to it..its ok...future baby mama is way better but if this is the highlight then I dont think I'm gonna like it...so to ya'll who've listened r they ANY gems on this album...do I need to have this album?

I don't c ur point. U can download it 4 free just anywhere so what's the point in discussing something u haven't listened 2 as if u had to get a 100 bucks record and were hesitating to spend the money, particularly after reading all the opposite opinions people have shared about it here. Just get it, listen 2 it and make ur own opinion

Have you ever liked an album that got lots of bad reviews?

I try not to read any reviews for an album I know I'm going to get anyway (ie. from a fav artist), because it can literally dampen the whole experience for me.

I ordered the paper from the UK and knew it was going to take a few weeks to get all the way to Melbourne, so I let myself listen to little bits of the songs as the weeks went by, which only served to get me more excited about it.

When I knew that it couldn't be more than a few days away, I listened to Laydown, which I loved, and thus got me more hyped about getting the album.

Finally it arrived and I was so jazzed! Raced upstairs, put it on the player and listened to the whole thing about three times, dancing around, seriously stoked.

20ten may not make my all-time favourite list (although Compassion is definitely my kinda song), but by letting myself get excited about it, rather than wading through reviews from people that probably don't like half the stuff I do, I had a really fun experience with it

In any case, as others have said, seek the songs out online and have a listen if you still need convincing.

Whichever way you finally get it (should you choose to), it's probably going to be the cheapest album you buy all year, so I wouldn't antagonise over the decision

whats with all the smart comments ?......yes I can and will have to make my own final opnion...I'm just asking for reviews...same as if u were to buy a cd or watch a movie...most ppl read/ listen to reviews before forming their own opinion...geez!

Thanks for your input......I had only listened to future soul song...and then I listened to some others ..but they were really sleepy to me...I realize it may be the kind of album I have to listen to a dozen times before I start to dig it....but yes I still like to hear reviews about things..cds/movies..whatever...it doesn't change mind about buying the music or seeing movie..but I still like to hear anyway

Wow...you gotta listen to it!!! I loved it overall!! I don't think Future Soul Song is the hightlight. I really like Laydown, Act of GOD, Lavaux in that order. I mean I really like those songs, like I rank them up there and they are definately 3 gems for me. I actually think "Laydown" should have a video and be on the radio..it's pretty mainstream if you ask me. It has one slamming beat!!! I love when he goes "Lets do it now come on boo.." It's classic SEXY Prince, I can just imagine him doing it live. IDK, it's so catchy to me, it gets ALOT of play. So does "Act of GOD." I really like it. I think the ablum is overall pretty good. Not a PR or SOTT, but it has it's gems. And they grow on you..."Sticky Like Glue" and "Compassion" are really growing on me. I will pay for the cd!! In fact, I'm listening to "Laydown" right now!! "From the heart of Minnesota, here come the Purple Yoda!"

It's refreashing, instead of the rediculous and insulting 1's about the Artists which get 2 stay unlocked. Some people on the org just have "special" privelages which give them the EGO 2 think they can talk 2 whomever they wish how ever they please and no 1 does anything about the "bullies". So don't allow them 2 upset u or make u feel bad cuz they are twisted n get off on hurting others cuz they hurt so much inside themselves..

O.M.G....what does my question ask?...I said I am yet to listen to the album..I only listened to future soul song....I also have stated that I am interested in reviews but that does not sway my decision one way or another...I am still gonnna listen to it. There were a million and one bad reviews of UTCM...that didn't stop me from watching it....and I think its the best movie he ever did..so I am not letting any "negative review" dictate anything for me.

I really like it a lot, if my opinion means anything. (I could not resist.) I do, though. I think it's great. I group it with his 1982-1988 output. If that era is your bag, I think you will dig it.

Yes I couldn't listen when it first came out back in June/July..whenever that was.....this is now Semptember and I am taking baby steps towards the album...hence my question...there is no drama...There r countless albums/dvds of his that r so good and that r collectables that I have multiple copies of in every form, Cassette, VHS, DVD, VINYL, CD etc...I dont care if there are bootlegs around, I spend my hard earned cash on them because he's worth every penny....But if I dont feel 20ten is a classic I'm just going to download the songs I like for free and not actually buy the album.

Yes it does.. I really dig 1978-1989 era the most.....90's era till now has a lot of cool moments...and not so cool moments for me...and thank you for just answering a simple question with a simple answer

20TEN is a great set of songs, I love it! Just hope he releases another album this year. Just goes 2 show ya, Prince can still bring the funk!
