It finally dawns upon a dwindling small group of cult groupies that their 80s musical hero is now a has been.

Old news.

A lot of self-righteous pots around here that like to call kettles black.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

True NPG as a band name is probably getting a bit old now.
However I'd argue that "The Revolution" was a rotten name for a band too - it just reminds me too much of Adam & The Ants or something biggrin

'New Power' - ugh, I've always hated this phrase. 'New' is a totally meaningless word - the minute it leaves your lips it is invalid. NOTHING is 'new'. New Power is an even more meaningless phrase - the word 'power' has an awful connotation and conjures up images of corruption and malice. Why would anyone choose such a vapid moniker?

Just throwing out some random ideas:

Prince and his Court (vh1-circa '90)--got a jazzy sound to it, me thinks.
Prince and his Majesty's Finest
Prince and Knights of the Round Table
Prince and his Royal Subjects
Prince and the Empirorers
Prince and the Dominion
Prince and the New Republic

--- or ---

Prince and the Paupers
Prince and the Monarchs
Prince and the Pirates

Awww i suck at this, but you get the idea...shrug

I really don't see Prince using a band name that has any kind of references to royalty. Seems a little too obvious, ya know?

How about Prince and the Rainbow Children???

After all, the song New Power Generation came out credited to 'Prince' - he didn't officially call his band the NPG until afterwards.

Prince and the Rainbow Children has a nice ring to it, and fits with where he is right now.
