Amazing. I would love to have a handwritten song by P. I'm suprised he sold the stuff. I believe "Purple Rain" should have sold for a lot more. It's a shame the Org doesn't get wind of these auctions before others do.

Why, do you have $67,000 going spare?

My first question would be - "what are the lyrics to the verse omitted from the album"?
Actually - does anybody know the answer to this??

Probably the shitty lyrics from the version at First Avenue that yielded the album tracks. I can watch the DVD later and write them down for you. It's about as meaningless as the rest of the song, but less good.

I would imagine him to keep the prized documents than to sell them. God forbid anything happens to the papers... Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Oh okay, so now it's the lawyers and the accountants who ruined the music industry.
And judged by the quality of his music, not the color of his skin, he is.
Prince knows, plays and has touched a lot of musical styles so far, but it is mostly a mixture of pop/rock/funk/soul/r&b what he releases. While that is his trademark that has made him the great artist that he is, he has also been repeating himself in doing that.
Yet there are many kinds of music out there in this big beautiful world that Prince has never touched before. Prince has let some latin music touch songs before, but scarcely and never any original African music. No Asian music either.
Prince could step out of the world he has been making music in tho', for a while, and travel the world. He could play with musicians from South Africa for example and get inspired by the richnesses of their music. He could help them out and teach them a few tricks too. He could see how they do it. He could dot he same in Nairobi, Kenya. He could visit the slams there and make music with the kids. Experience with his own eyes how happy they can still be. He could write songs about his experiences. He could go to India and China and learn completely different ways of making music. Different scales, different instruments, different sounds, different ways of thinking. Get inspired by the beauty of the world and the vast variety of cultural differences wherever he goes. Finally get to talk to people freely, to people that don't want anything from him, who are not yes men, who do not immediately view him as that big superstar and say they love everything he does when they really don't. He could go wherever he wants to. He could go to Andalucia, Spain and come back as a flamenco guitar player and dancer or he could travel the entire of South America and come back with the tango and the rumba, with stories of indigenous peoples he met and with pictures of all the beautiful places he has been to.
There is so much to do and see in this world. So much to experience, so much to learn, so much to be inspired by. It's all there.

Okay okay, lets not get carried away. Let's let the man play whatever the hell he wants to play. We don't have to like, we can say it sucks if we want to, that's on us and our own appreciation and perspective. But lets not go overboard suggesting what he should and shouldn't enjoy playing or doing. lol Damn, poor Prince. It must be like having thousands upon thousands of mother-in-laws yapping at him for every move the dude makes. [Edited 10/20/10 23:40pm]
