Yet somehow, out of the blue, in the midst of all this, he decides to record a song using a drum beat hereto un-heard of in Prince land (ping-pong effect, then heavy live drumming), sing in a style he's never used before or since (both in pitch and delivery), steal a guitar riff from George Harrison, and even harmonize his guitar on the main riff (which he's also never done before or since, oddly). Add to that lyrics that don't match anything he was writing about at that time...
I think the drums have a similar feel to them as the drums on "Play In The Sunshine". The guitar riff is quite unusual for him, though.

Was it not on that track chosen at paisley park for crystal ball II. I might have just made that up however. "Sisters and brothers in the purple underground, find peace of mind in the pop sound!" |

yeah, it's very similar to a George Harrison song.
which is why it will never be released. "does my cock look fat in these jeans?" |

/\ If that were true, then "Guitar" would never have been released as the riff is similar to "I Will Follow" by U2. |

It's funny that George Harrsion had to go to court over his own melody of "My Sweet Lord" even demonstrating on a guitar how he derived the melody (which is exactly like the much older "He's So Fine").
I'm not sure what legally constitutes a melody but the guitar riff in U2's song probably cannot be copywritten as a composition out of context of the song. |
