Beautiful, Loved, and Blessed -- Still great after 4 years. IMO, this song is brilliant.
It's one of the few Prince tracks with uplifting lyrics that DOESN'T feel forced or corny. (Okay, so maybe there are a few lines I could do without. But hey, nothing is perfect.)
And besides, any lyrical flaws are amened by the fact that the music itself is quite wonderful.
Am I the only one that feels this way? Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

To me it'll always be a clunker that reminds me of the downside of those crazy 3121 times.

It's a little corny, although the intent of the message is admirable.

What was so bad about Tamar? Or the album itself?
Anything with Black Sweat, this song, and The Dance on its tracklist can NOT be deemed a failure. These are solid pieces of music! [Edited 8/31/10 22:31pm] Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

I love 3121 but that song just reminds me of him promoting Tamar aggressively for a few months, stopping for a few months, playing a few more shows with her in June, then moving on to Vegas.
The 3121 era was the most confusing letdown ever when it came to marketing, especially after seeing the wishlist Universal had for it.
I understand Prince was going through a divorce at the time though so I'm not too mad at him about it.

Depends, I don't like this or Black Sweat. The Dance is great though.
Beautiful, Loved & Blessed wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so long. RIP

It's not bad, but definitely the most skippable on the album. Can't say I'd call it "great". Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I think it's one of the best songs on there. I love the drumwork, Tamar sounds great (and her voice and Prince's blend together nicely), and the song is lovely. It's one of the few overtly religious songs of the past decade that I really, really love.

Meh. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

This is how I feel about it. I actually like the 3121 album a lot, but BLB is not a highlight for me. It's just...nice.
I was always surprised at the Grammy nomination for it.

My issue with it is that it's a Tamar song on a Prince album. Of course, we all know what happened to Tamar's album. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

 Totally! Most skippable track (along with Incense and Candles) "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"
"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

I actually really like Tamar's album. I think BLB is also the weakest track in that album.

One of, of not THE the best off 3121.
Dont understand the hate for one Prince's most poppy, positive, beatifullly written songs.
I play this way more often than anthing else on that record.

I don't hate it. I don't love it. It's just...there.
The song I hate is that stupid penguin bullshit. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
