Prince and Sade

I was reading a recent interview with Sade, and it got me thinking about Prince; both achieved great fame in the early 80's.

In many ways they are alike and opposites. They are both fiercely protective of their privacy, but it seems as if Sade may be more reclusive than Prince is. Whereas he will be seen at fashion shows and thangs, she generally avoids the public eye.

Then again, whereas Prince releases a new album every year or two, Sade has huge gaps, in-between hers.

I watched a performance of her singing Babyfather, and couldn't help but think both she and Prince have maintained their beauty through the years in special ways.

Oh yes, they both seem to shy away from the notion/concept of time

i don't know, but i love both.

And the news is commemorating 5 years since Katrina this weekend, which reminds me of SST:

Who will b a guest in Ur tent?

R U gonna b happy with how Ur life is spent?

Did u have open arms 4 each and everybody U met?

Or did U let them die in the rain?
Endless war, poverty, or hurricane

It's time 4 another groove...
Like Sade's Sweetest Taboo.

I think most fans consider it a pretty meager song, which is valid. But I'm still impressed at him being topical, religious, inclusive, and giving props to Sade, all within a month or so of the tragedy. It wasn't groundbreaking at all, but i enjoyed the effort.

yes, it was positive he gave respect 2 her...he could learn a lot from her though;

i read her saying something like: "i don't just release music for the sake of doing

it...there must be meaning." not her exact words...w/ max appreciation and respect

for prince's prolific-ness, he could learn a thing or two from her in this regard...perhaps

take his time a bit mo' in choosing compilations, planning of his themes

I don't see any comparison: Sade is the epitome of boring. A classic case of mistaking dullness for mystique, she's been making the same bland record for the past 25yrs.

That said, she's plenty doable wink

Sade is what she is, she isnt as contrived as Prince and she truly does value family and privacy. I would even dare to say she's enjoyed considerably less success than prince even more than he has. He says he isn't chasing anything but his actions say otherwise, she truly isn't plugged in and you can tell..which adds to her mystique. Prince is the kind of guy Sade has humble respect for, Sade is the kind of girl Prince writes songs about-there's a difference.

*Yawn*

she epitomises sensuality to me, as does prince, which is something else that they share in common with each other

that's the thing...is mystique constructed, or

is it in existence on its own.

Sade is also a Mom, a parent...whereas Prince derives great inspiration from his faith,

parenthood has influenced her approach 2 the sound.

reality is they r peers

cool
