You are right that Prince's mom was a JW...but I'm not sure his father was? IDK though. He was religious always, he just "realized" what he knew all along according to him. And yeah, the chick has converted...which is sooooo fake! You don't convert to anything for a man, it isn't genuine. You convert based on faith and truth. Prince is fine and sexy and all that, but converting to another religion for him? That isn't geniune and he knows it, so he shouldn't respect her for it.
If you're talkin' about Bria, she was or is Christian so 'converting' is not really that much of a big thing. It's just a different book they read and live by and the Sabbath Day or Holiest of days for JWs is Saturday ...
Really, It's more than that!

Yes she was...I'm pretty sure that was what was the driving force behind Prince finally reaching his "realization." Prince grew up with a really religious family, notice how he always had his cross on in the early days
Is Prince sister and step brother a Jehovah's Witness?
Yes i notice in Prince earlier years he sanged about god, but i never knew
his mother was a Jehovah's Witness. I thought he learn everything about the
JW religion through Larry. Awww this made my day. I'm looking forward to meeting
Prince mother in Paradise.
Interesting

Well,
The Jw's just left the house, as they are giving free information on the sights of heaven. I wonder still why wait to make heaven a part of our life (your's and mine) after you die? Can't we try to fix things now, without the money per week situation, and the Simon Says?
I only note, that if you intend to do good, then you'll do it. You shouldn't have to have something such a gift to make you do something right. Don't you think?
Do you really think there is a life after death?

Do you think Jehovah Witness elders or whatever they
called are censorshiping Prince's music
something like :Hey Prince i head your new album and
you have a song that is too sexual
or raw,you are our member you should not do that.
Do you think they do things like that, control Prince?
I know Larry was leaving Prince's concerts
because Prince was swearing
on the hit n run 2000/2001 tour a the begining of the
tour Prince was performing Darling Nikki
he was also humping the stage during performance of that song, yet
soon after after few bars of Darling Nikki Prince
was playing Joy in Repetition instead.

We all fall short...let's focus on our own shortcomings...Prince seems to be on his religious path!!! |

yes, if the actions we take are effective, then they are effective, regardless of our religious persuasion or 'organization', imo.
Nelson Mandella, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa < these were people of action, and actions definitely speak louder than words imo.
"we can talk all we want to but the world still goes around and round" this too shall pass |

I don't know about Prince's mother's religious beliefs later in life, but I thought when Prince was young his family was Seventh Day Adventist?
You know I read that somewhere too? I don't remember where, but I was like "HUH?" But I know later in life she was a JW and asked Prince to convert also.
Kind of a big jump from 7DA to JW though I would think...I mean their ideologies are totally different!! Sometimes they are confused by some people, so maybe the 7DA was a misprint?
And just how do you KNOW his mom was JW and asked him that, did you hear her actually say it or heard Prince actually say that she requested it?
(btw...typing in bold, purple italics makes your posts really hard to read and I've skipped most of them due to that. If you want folks to read your thoughts, you should make it easy on their eyes.)

Prince - Active - Musician
Prince was raised a Seventh Day Adventist and then later a Baptist. His mother, Mattie Shaw later converted to being a Jehovah's Witness, as was family friend Larry Graham, bass player from Sly and the Family Stone. His baby son Gregory, born to his first wife Mayte Garciain, died from a genetic disorder of the skull called Pfieffer syndrome October 1996, seven dies after birth. In 2001, his father died and "Prince’s mother, the jazz singer Mattie Shaw, died six months later. Her final wish was said to be that her son should become a Jehovah’s Witness as she had been for most of her life. Prince grappled with depression and something approaching a midlife crisis." (mirror.co.uk 1 July 2010) This helps explain his interest in the Witnesses around this period and conversion with his wife Manuela Testolini in 2001.
Manuela filed for divorce in 2006. In 2007 Prince started dating Bria Valente, who converted to a Witness after he produced her first album.

Yeah, I don't count JW propaganda as truthful, especially when there's errors in it.

Notice I said "I'm pretty sure!" If you don't read then don't respond. I never stated a fact that she asked him, but everyone knows she was a JW in her later years!! That's hardly up for debate. According to an interview he did, his mom asked him to become a JW. With the help of Larry Graham, he realized the truth. Now that's what was printed from an interview Prince himself did. Did they lie about it? IDK, but I don't see him saying the interviewer twisted his words, so I'm going to assume they are correct. Especially since this is not anything worth worrying about. His faith is not anybody's right to question, it's his faith. I'm not here to dispute it. Are you? And honestly if you're going to respond so harshly about something so unimportant, then you can keep on skipping over my posts. Last time I checked, I didn't put them here just for you to read. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol |
