a million hardcore fans?

looking at his recent sales....his last couple of albums in the us have sold between 500,000 and a million copies....his fanbase is roughly the same size in the rest of the world so i would say that prince has around a million hardcore fanbase around the world....if he releases a mainstream album...he is almost certain to at least sell a million....not bad i think for someone who has been around for soo long...he can sell more than this with the right promotion but i think that a million fools who will buy just about anthing he puts out is about right....whatcha think ? smile

not everyone who buys an album is a hardcore fan or even fan. he's got closer to about 30,000 hardcore fans in the world based on org and HQ stats. of course not all fans will visit those sites but you will also have non hardcore fans visiting them. at best he might have 50,000 hardcore fans in the world

Well maybe hardcore isnt the right word . But fans who will buy just about anything numbers around a million i think . . Real hardcore . . I think its more than you think . . Looking at some websites where you get the dodgy stuff . . Prince is one of the most popular music artists Going . He must be one of the most bootlegged artists in history . Up there with the beatles and dylan i would imagine so i think its more than you would think . .

Nah, I doubt he even got 10k subscribers to the LF site.

I agree that it's closer to 30k hardcore worldwide or even less. Most people who attend shows are not hardcore and even the hardcore drag some non fans with them so...

A few weeks ago, someone posted info about 20ten downloads from one of the dodgy sites and the numbers were very low compared to other artists.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

If there are one million fans that buy everything and casual fans that buy an album every now and then Planet Earth, Lotusflow3r and 20Ten would likely become gold, so I doubt it.

It's impossible to pull a figure for this out of your ass and have it be anywhere near accurate.

planet earth and lotusflower have both sold around 500,000 copies in the usa ...but they were not available around the world...(not as cds anyway)....his last worldwide release was 3121 which as sold a million worldwide and musicology which sold one and half million copies worldwide so i think the figure of a million fans who would buy a prince if they had the chance is about right...

Aren't hardcore fans the type of fans that would import an album? And Planet Earth and Lotusflow3r weren't hard to get in Europe, I don't know about the other continents.

who defines 'mainstream?' the ceo's of record companies, those who establish set-lists for radios...or is it a personal/subjective experience for the listener...

there is also a theory that the populace is 'fed' what those in control want them to hear, hence Prince's stark contrast to so much that is out there now,

esp in terms of theme and "message"

I don't think a million is accurate....way too high. However, i think 30,000 is too low.

I have a feeling it's around 100,000 - those who will buy anything that is put out.

Still, with Prince keeping most of the profits....that's an easy $1,000,000 whenever he wants it.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Ever since I remember, Prince acknowledged his fans in the covers of his albums, cassettes and cd's. Like all of us, he has no choice but to make a living in this capitalistic shitstem. Jealousy towards his success should not be disguised as glib comments...some of y'all wish you could be as successful in your own careers as Prince is, but because you are not, you vent your shortcomings on him lol as far as his music is concerned, the more people he reaches the better; his message is conscious and spread peace, togetherness and love...more people should get paid for doing the work Prince does, but he is one of a handful...
