Released Prince concert DVDs Hello! Could someone please give me a list of all the released prince concerts that are possible to get on DVD? I know about a concert DVD from the SOTT Tour and I know about the one from New Year´s Eve, "Rave Un2 The Year Fantastic". But hopefully there must be many more.
I am hoping that there are concert releases from The Musicology Tour, One Nite Alone Tour and other later tours. And if not, why doesn´t Prince release these concerts on DVD when he releases music all the time?

Oh, I forgot about the Alladin concert, too. So these are really the only ones that are officially released? It´s really a shame IMO. I just don´t get why the artists are so afraid to release concerts on DVD. I actually think that it would help them a lot because then people would hear the music in another way and see how brilliant they really are.
It´s the same thing with Michael Jackson. He has only two official concert releases and the fans are also screaming to get more of them out.
WHY is it so hard??? | |

There are plenty of artists who release their concerts on DVD and right after the tour is over. Not years later. The SOTT DVD is excellent for what it was, but you can't really consider that a true live show. Lovesexy was released on VHS in the UK, but as we all know the US did not get a release. Maybe it was due to poor ticket sales of the tour here and the label didn't think it would sell. The Nude show had 2 televised shows aired in Japan and Spain, but neither of those saw an official release. Diamonds and Pearls was professionally filmed in London and was supposed to be released at the end of 1992, but was shelved also. There are many shows that were professionally filmed and will probably never see the light of day, due to lack of interest by the masses. TRUE BLUE

The deal with Prince consists of two things:
1. If he doesn't feel like it, he doesn't do it. 2. He is a perfectionist. That's the reason that the DVD's that got released were edited so much and the SOTT DVD might be 10% live material, the rest is recorded at Paisley Park. If he doesn't relax a little more about that, we're not likely to get a lot of DVDs in the future. You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

strictly speaking, it's arguable if you can consider SOTT an official release. it's a legal release, but not one with prince's authorisation

To bad the Sheila E concert isn't out on official DVD, because the ending is one of the strongest official live documents of Prince I've ever seen. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
