I think Prince could have made this song better, musically but the concept and the words are great.

Love it. Fav song of the whole "come/gold" era. This is the
main reason I kept hoping the gold experience would one day
be released. Because I wanted this song complete, full version and in good soundquality.

I must have listened to that bad vcr 2 tape copy from the
videoclip a million times on my way to school back in the
day.

Still listen to it at least once a week. I skip most of the
other trax on the gold experience, but this one remains a
very strong song. LOVE IT!!!

This song is one that proves that the naysayers that write off Prince's work in the 90s are wrong.

What's a doolpheen?

The concept and lyrics are brilliant, but there is just something not right with the production, mainly during the chorus. It sounds quite thin, really.

The middle-8 as such, ("If I'm underwater will you find me...") is fantastic, sounds lush and is the best part of the track. It thins out again a bit for the following guitar solo, but Sonny's bass keeps it rolling along - it's just the first couple of choruses that grate on me when listening to it. Makes it a 7/10 song for me.
