Has Prince Ever Covered An EW&F Song?

Most of us have heard Prince say that his musical influences growing up were JB, Santana, Sly & Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, & Earth Wind & Fire. I have heard Prince cover at least one song from the artists that influenced him.

I was wondering if he has covered Earth Wind & Fire because I don't recall any concert, tv appearance or studio recording where he has done a single note from any of their songs.

I don't think he has ever covered an EW&F song, but he did give them a song called "Super Hero" for their 1993 album 'Millenium'.Interestingly,in 1978 when he signed his recording contract with Warner Bros, they wanted EW&F leader Maurice White to produce Prince's debut album.

I wish he would do a cover of "Reasons." His falsetto voice would nail it!

didn't he write Super hero for them?, off topic I know but I am sure I have their version somewhere. As for the NPG version, holy cow, P & THE NPG in full effect.

And they organise a diner for him to meet Verdine White and Prince was not very impressed, not to say that he was not very polite...

Hell yes he's covered EW&F songs in concert! He even mentions them in "Musicology".

I think, a few years back, when he was awarded (Hall of Fame or Brit Award, not sure), that he thanked Earth, Wind and Fire for their 'arrangements'. Nice!

No offense unique, but did you really hear Prince cover an EW&F song... or were you on the same stuff you were on when you typed the above link?

stoned

An actual date and/or performance reference would help qualify your answer.

eek Wow! An emphatic "Hell yes" as an answer. I love it! Were there any songs you know of... or are you agreed with the reference back to 86/87 and 3121 Jazz Cuisine in 2007 that he played shining star?
