Lotusflow3r is number 10 on billboard indepedent chart and number 16 on the R&B chart this week pretty good i'd say. No matter what target's selling price is its cool how an album can move up and down the charts like it has and chart higher than some new releases after being on the chart forover a year now.

yeah i guess there's other CD's out there selling for the same price that dont get chart position at all so you might have a point there

not fooling myself ernest im just saying the simple fact is its fallen off the charts and moved bac up kinda high to say its over a year old and no promotion or airplay/videos just on the shelf at Target.

It is pretty cool. People are probably buying them and then shipping them places that don't have target. Good way to make a profit?

Since I personally like that album very much, I think it's pretty great that it is on the charts a year after its release!! It shows that people are interested to hear Prince's music ... I would not buy any CD of an artist I'm not interested in, even if it's only 99 cents.

It's not 99 cents everywhere. I believe people reported it being $2.99 and $4.99 someplaces (no further clearance discount). Yes, it is greatly reduced - no argument there. But a lot of independent albums are never priced higher than ten bucks, so it works for me on that chart. The R&B chart, eh, seems a bit like cheating for a triple CD release to be charting there because the price has been slashed (repeatedly).

99 cents will make people more likely to get it, but it it's not totally the price. People don't just buy albums cuz it's 99 cents. If they were giving away Lil Waynes cd's for free, I wouldn't take it.

VH1 has been playing Purple Rain the last couple of weeks. I'd say it has more to do with that.
