Any idea whether that sexy leopard skin tele that Prince has been wielding quite alot recently is the same one he had from back in Dirty Mind days? I know he has a bit of a penchant for smashing them up but does anyone know for sure whether this is the same one? Imagine how much its worth if it is...as much as Brian May's Guitar (that he built himself and is still playing???)

I don't think Prince has that many guitars. The times I've seen Prince throw his guitar around, it's usually with his newer guitars. I once saw him break one of his symbol guitars into two. But I've never seen him get rough with his Tele. Thats gotta be his favourite guitar.

As for my personal favourite (going on looks here), its gotta be the auerswald guitars. I love that bass:

It's a Hohner, not a Fender.

I'd say with Prince's cash he's probably had a lot of the bits replaced / upgraded over the years, custom made to look like the original. Yeah I'd guess it probably is his fave guitar.

Mine, for looks alone, is the white cloud. Still love that tele tho.

Prince has about 50 or so guitars in the workroom at Paisley I saw at the first Celebration. They are constantly being worked on.

The guitars he drops and throws and stuff are continually used. The one-eyed bass had a half dozen dents and chips in the paint when I saw it. Even his Goldaxxe keybaord was messed up looking.

Takumi confessed that he loves it when Prince tosses his guitars around because it gives him an opportunity to take the thing apart and mess with it a little when Prince asks him to repair it.

Anyone noticed that in Purple Rain the movie, the back of the tele seems to be repaired with black tape? On later pictures, the back looks perfectly ok though...
