I started it, but this was one of the occasions in my career when I’d agreed to do something, but when I finally had to put pen to paper I realized I’d rather bite my own head off and eat it. Not because I dislike Prince particularly. I just couldn’t find a grain of enthusiasm for the job. I had to explain myself to Andy and offer my humble apology – and he graciously let me off.”

Is it me or does anyone else think that he really didnt like Prince even though he kinda said he didnt have a problem with him?

Not necessarily.

While it's easy to imagine how someone might become frustrated with Prince (from stuff I've read of course, so who really knows?), as an artist who's revisited work until the enthusiasm wore off just because I was getting paid to do so...I kinda get what he's saying.

On the other hand, when you're getting paid good money, who says you have to be all that enthusiastic about it. Just knock it out.

IDK, that whole "I'd rather bite my head off and eat it.." thing kind of sounds like he don't really like him. Because you can have a lack of enthusiasm and still pull off the job for the money sake. To me, the only thing that really would make someone turn down cash is a strong contempt for the subject. That's just my thought, because why not do it?
