Haha, you are not alone with Karmasutra bob. I have no idea what prince was thinking of when this was recorded. It is definitely a mood piece, but i think since obtaining it years back i may have played it only a handful of times, if that.

As for his other instrumental albums/music, i really like it, i'm no jazz expert by any means, but jazz and instrumental music is slowly taking a place in my music collection. The stuff Prince has come out with is to my ears very interesting, and i actually play the instrumental stuff more than other Prince recordings of late. I have also started to seek out bootlegs where the show was predominantly instrumental too, a couple of these i have are brilliant.

Prince instrumental music is definitely an aquired taste, and for me, right now, i can't get enough. Exept for karmasutra....haha.

kamasutra is foreign for "load of shite", and it was created by a pop star that had been living in fantasyland for too long who wanted to impress his 19 year old fiance who knew fuck all about music (checkout her cover of mr misters broken wings as evidence) unfortunately prince knew fuck all about ballet or classical music and thought he could create something that beethon or mozart would take months to do, in a spare afternoon when he was bored cuz the telly was shite, and use a synthesizer instead of an orchestra to emphasize how fucking useless trained musicians are

it was also an interesting career move as if you play crystal ball in order of the discs and play kamasutra last, you are left with a bad feeling in your ears. so when you play his next worse album ever made, "newpowersoul", it sounds absolutely fucking amazing after hearing kamasutra, which suggests that kamasutra was recorded after completing newpowersoul, in an attempt to make newpowersoul not seem so shite by comparison

after i listened to kamasutra i put the disc in the microwave just in case i got pissed and got some stupid idea about playing it again. i suggest everyone else does the same

Even Costa Coffee shops would refuse to play Karmasutra, and comming from a place whose piped music is even worse than Asda's, that's saying something.

biggrin ....yes kamasutra must be the biggest pile of doody ever to be inserted into a cd player.....expectation is way better and that wasnt considered good enough for the shiny shiny confused

.

for such a brilliant artist as prince is....he really can trawl the depths and release some crimes against music.....but we all know that when he flys high ....he goes higher than anyone else....

I know, we get karmasutra pressed up on cd and not Expectation, or even C-Note.

Noway ! LOL I would take a week off from work and kick back with feet up and headphones tight, and enjoy a true reflection in sound of a mastermind surrendering to the wonder of instruments. What a journey beginning with the harp ending with the flute.

Actually even cooler if he did onetakes for a compressed week, and we'd get a raw reflection of his revived genius. Such an assignment only the Artist could meet.
