Does anyone know why Rosie Gaines no longer tours with Prince?

Why should she?

Seriously, how long it's been since she and Prince worked together the last time? 15 years? Maybe i missed something, but yeah, i think somewhen in the mid 90s, eh?

I mean, imagine everybody Prince had ever met would still tour with him.. Dude would run a damn circus!

The trouble with this forum is that some people respond to everything in such a negative way with smart curt comments. I was just watching some old footage and was thinking how they complimented each other so well on stage. Prince often brings some of the 'old crowd' back with him for one offs etc. I just posed a question, sorry if it offended !

I never liked Rosie, or any of the other "singers" Prince had in his band.

Diamonds and pearls was beautiful. My favourite Prince/Rosie vocal.

I adore Rosie. Her duet with Prince on Nothing Compares 2 U gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. It would be great if Prince get her back to do some sort of reunion, she doesn't seem to be doing much lately and someone else than Shelby backing Prince up would be nice for a change

Prince refused over and over to pay her for her services. Folks don't work for free, period. He expected her to. She left in 1992 to do her own thing, and maintained a decent relationship, but she wasn't going to work w/ him anymore. Then he calls and said, "Why are we fighitng? They resolved whatever their differences were, with boat loads of promises on his part. She was even on Emancipation.

Fast forward to 1999 for the "1999 New Master", and PPV Rave Un2 The Years 2000 special, and he still didn't pay her. She finally said fuck you and left for good.

I can't blame her. It's just another notch in the long chain of people Prince thinks he's better than, and doesn't have to pay for services rendered, but yet he'll bitch and moan about how much his pussy hurts when someone 'steals' his music, or he doesn't get paid the way he thinks he should.

SO I assume, then, that you have not seen any of the concerts he did in 2009 where he had band members from virtually his entire non-Revolution stable, right?

I didn't like it either. I think the arrangement is too fussy and strangles the song. Not sure it really works as a duet...

As fas as Prince & Rosie I haven't heard any mention of performing or working together since the "Rave" concert dvd

Rosie is an awesome singer. A very talented artist. Prince treated her like crap so she left. His loss.

I also LOVED "Nothing Compares 2 U" duet with Rosie! Beautiful song and her vocals are great! That NPG line-up during that period of time was his best band not named the Revolution IMO (although Michael B was a better drummer than Bobby Z). That NPG was F U N K Y!!! So much soul!

The Prince/Rosie version of "Nothing Compares" is just too much.

Not in the good sense.

I like her a lot but much prefer her vocals in "Gett Off" and "Diamonds & Pearls".

Rosie only toured with Prince for ONE album: Diamonds And Pearls.

She has made the odd one off appearance since leaving the NPG, like on the Rave DVD etc.

doesn't Kirky J tour with Prince anymore?" or "why doesn't _____ tour with Prince anymore?"
