We AREN'T getting 2CD sets for $12; at least, not if you bought them through Prince, like I did. That 2 CD set (poor Bria, how quickly we forget!) cost me $77.
And concert tickets aren't $31.21. But they were once, and this Musicology tickets were much lower than the industry standard at the time. I think Prince started charging the big bucks for his shows with the one at the Roosevelt Hotel in LA. If I recall correctly, ticket prices have been pretty high since then.
But hey, that's the free market. If people will pay it, then the price isn't too high.
Prince is surely money driven, but who says that's a bad thing? Making music is what Prince does for a living, and he has every right to expect to be paid for what he does for a living. I don't begrudge him one bit for selling his output. | |
