I probably gave it 1 more spin, but never listened to it again.
There are those albums you seem to appreciate more when you listen to them more often. And then there are those albums who seem to get worse the more you listen to them.
20Ten belongs to the latter

I am still listening to the album and as of today the songs that I like the most are:
Sticky Like Glue - great tune, I haven't heard a Prince song like this before. And I don't think it is similar to "Black Sweat" as I read somewhere here on the org.
Beginning Endlessly - Similar remark as above. I especially enjoy the latter part of the song.
Lavaux - Very cheesy but somehow the simplicity and the playfullness takes over and I am quite surprised I like it as I didn't care for it at first.
Laydown - Nice funk tune.
Future Soul Song - Great voice.
I revisited MPLSsound and I must say that 20ten is a much better CD.

1. Sticky Like Glue So fonky, it's like a dirty diaper. Prince is the ONLY contemporary producer who uses SPACE! The funkisinitwhritsnot joint. The orchestration, harmony, and production are all sparse, but truly choice performances. A synergistic bopfunk that commands attention on the first run down. By the way, the end break down? "Too sexy!"
2. Lavaux I can't deny the infectious beauty of this groove. Dig that closing vocal harmony line. Hip. Doesn't hurt that he's got his politics straight too!
3. Future Soul Song I think Prince more accurately captured what the CGI guys were going for with "Pandora" from "Avatar." Such lush harmonies, and such earnest delivery. Perhaps one of Prince's most mature pieces ever. All joyous, overwhelming, with somber sincerity. Truly wonerful.
4. Sea of Everything Again, space is king. We have a spectacular vocal delivery and some of the clearest well thought out background parts P has written. "I don't care..." BG on the backend. Plus, such great use of power and control by cracking the whip with "will you still fell the same, when the spotlight fades?" Brilliant.
5. Act of God Shit kickin soul groove. Funk.
6. Laydown A good party groove. Seems like Prince might be throwin some young bucks a bone. Great Batman era guitar sound on the second phrase of the Guitar/Bass soli.
The other four grooves are dope, though its hard for me to get into "Everybody Loves Me" with that cornball melody and the Randy Newman piano part (brilliant lyrics though with "King of Hate/Queen of Misery.........Everybody love Me"). This is my first post.
Stay fonky. J

I would say track 1 to 6, and track 9. They are all good to great. I don't like the two ballads at 7 and 8 too much, they're a bit bland compared to the rest of the tracks.
I am really smitten with 20Ten, it's his best and most coherent work in years IMO. It doesn't cover any new ground, but I see this album as Prince making good, old fashioned "Prince" music. The kind of music that I fell in love with in the first place, when i was a youngster in the eighties.
I love that early Dirty Mind/Controversy vibe that I get from lots of these tracks musically. His rhythm guitar on 20Ten is outstanding, and adds much character to the tracks. He hasn't been playing guitar like this for the longest time on his albums, and I find it really refreshing. That specific combination of funky (synth)bass, Linndrum beats, rhythm guitar and synthesizers that we call the Minneapolis Sound is -even after almost 30 years!- still very rewarding to me.
20Ten -although maybe not very "avantgarde", and textually flawed- therefore is a very satisfying listen to me, and a most welcome addition to his body of work.
Thanks Prince! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
