prince's best tour EVER

I wanna know what you guys think Prince's best tour was...in terms of look and performances..I keep coming back to Parade tour 1986 in Detroit...I cannot stop watching it from start to finish..I looooooooooove that era..and I love especially the Head performance and then he goes into a little striptease and then full on simulated sex with his microphone....lawd have mercy...(I wish he had that much sexual chemistry with his leading ladies on film......but that another topic)..I love all the songs..I wasn't feeling the Parade album when I first heard it but its now one of my favorites, along with UTCM, his best movie in my opinon (I cant stop watching that either) and of course the style....he looked his very best in this era. The Musicology tour is a close second, Purple rain Tour 3rd, and Lovesexy and SOTT tie for 4th for me. How about ya'll?

The best musicianship I ever saw from Prince was when he backed up Tamar. Without the burden of having to carry the entire show, he just absolutely shredded the wazoo out of his guitar. Best guitar playing I've ever heard.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to attend any other mini-tours, such as 21 Nights, or Las Vegas, etc.

But the best big-time tour I ever saw in terms of Prince's total performance was the Musicology tour.

Although other tours score more points with me on some criteria, I'd have to say Lovesexy, for overall experience.

It's a toss up between Hit and Run 86 and Lovesexy for me.

The winner is and always will be Hit and Run 86. You just couldn't beat the chemistry of The Revolution and hearing the songs done by the actual band that were part of some of the recordings, you just can't beat that. When 18,000 people go nuts when Lisa goes "I'm just a virgin and I'm...." beats hearing Cat saying Lisa's part lol

I LOVED the Lovesexy tour and it changed my life honestly, but there's only ONE Revolution!!!! cool

For the tour's I've seen in person I'd go with Purple Rain and Lovesexy, with an honorable mention for D&P and Act I. Anything after that was nothing but a rehash of the hits, with some minor additions of new material. Seeing him do Let's Go Crazy, Mountains, or Anna Stesia, for instance, with any other band other than the original doesn't do much for me.

u r very lucky to have had a live experience..I wish I could enter a time machine back to the 80's..even though I was born in the 80's I was to young to experience all of this..I really wish I could have been in my teens /20's in the 80's

I feel very fortunate to have witnessed Prince live so many times. If you were able to go back in time, I'm pretty sure you would balk at the idea of the Musicology tour being in your top 5.

SOTT without a doubt, it was a perfect mix between music and show.

Lovesexy was over the top and way overrated.

(I've seen both in case you wonder)

Parade tour is a close second.

Busy doin' something close to nothing

My top 3 from the show's I've witnessed live:

1. LoveSexy'88

2. One Nite Alone 2002

3. The Gold Experience / ActII.

I really loved the final night of the London 2007 stint as well. But I wouldn't rank 'the tour' in my top-3. Same for the shows in Montreux and Paris, great, but not real tours.

Too bad I missed out on the Parade and SOTT world tour, they would most definately have made it to my top 3!! I looove the energy of the Parade shows!

And for the tours I missed... I love the 3121 Vegas shows and some of the Musicology shows... like Phoenix!

Really - that's fascinating - why? Because it was intimate?

I must admit the one show I got to (no thanks to NPGMC - grrrr!!!) was different in that it had very few hits, a lot of obscure tracks (I love u in me) and was split 50/50 acoustic or so it seemed. My fav bit was when some guy shouted " I love you" and Prince stopped and responded that the voice was a little too deep for him :-)

It was definitely a unique gig/tour but not a hugevshow...felt like a large aftershow...the best of which for me was 21/22 sept 2007

Likewise, One Night Alone tour for me. Followed by 3121 at Rio Las Vegas, then Lovesexy.
