I once saw a live version (NYC or Vegas) on the internet in which he gets down on bass at the end of this song after an amazing buildup. He is playing the bass while straddling it between his legs and he eventually plays it on one leg. Incredible. Anyone know the concert or video? I know it was prior to his lyric censorship.

I have to say this first: D&P and aren't 90s albums for me. They're part of a "transition" in my book.
OK, here I go:
BEST SONG HE RELEASED IN THE WHOLE 1990s. There. I said it.
PSSSHHH: Days Of Wild could beat FD. But this is another story, and will be told in another thread. [Edited 8/21/10 16:03pm]

just noticed he's wearing the same boots in this video (when he plays the violin with the silly look on his face) as he did for one shot of the ebony photo shoot - the big black yeti boots.
all hail the time-travellin yeti boots this too shall pass

Who's playing bass on the Roseland version? I know Rhonda in on the Chris Rock Show, but since it's lip synched, who's to say. I mean, I know she's capable of playing that well, but in the full-length live version, towards the beginning, Prince keeps making little asides (i.e. "Wait a minute!") that sound like maybe he's playing it.
Does anyone have any opinions, insight, intel? The NYTimes review of the show says he does play bass for part of the show, but doesn't say which songs.
