Wow, you're lucky. How did you hear about the video shoots back then? Were they advertised in the news papers or word of mouth???

I remember seeing My Name Is Prince, side alley at Glam Slam
Wasn't that in the video?
They woudl do a shot, then prince would say lets move.
And the whole crew had to hustle.
It was cool!
I always thought that was released? But never looked for it in the actual video.

In the Love 4 One Another VH1 show, I was "Jim" (I think that's the name Prince gave me. I'll have to go back and look). It was shot in the P Park lobby during one of his late night parties. While the girl is standing at the front desk wanting to talk to Prince, the receptionist says to a guy standing behind her 'Jim, watch the front desk, I'll be right back.' That was me. That was the 1st time I talked to Prince face to f...well, I'm 6' 2" so chest to face.

I used to go to Glam Slam all the time. It had 2 levels, the main floor, and 2nd floor was VIP. Memberships to the VIP floor were 1500.00 a year. I met someone who had a membership and we became really good friends and she always put me on her guest list. Prince always had 2 reserved tables, one right in front of the railing looking over the dance floor. The other one was in a corner. He was there all the time. I eventually got to know his bodyguards, who were the ones with all the info. If they trusted you, you had it made. So many people would see him sitting at his table and would either try to take a picture or approach him. Not the thing to do! From 91-94 the parties and concerts in Erotic City (a huge back room of Glam Slam) or Paisley Park were invite only. When 95 rolled around the parties and concerts were open to all, unless you got in to Paisley Park and acted like a crazed person. The Love 4 One Another, Emancipation, and Rave concerts were all word of mouth, usually by the local radio station KMOJ. DJ Brother Jules worked there and would spread the word. It was a lot less exclusive and people would just stand around in front of the stage waiting for Prince to perform, whether he was going to or not. Wallflowers! Oh, and I forgot the Somebody's, Somebody video. The part where he is walking through a crowd was filmed in the Love 4 One Another room. Great times!!! TRUE BLUE

Very cool. Were you there when they were filming the people coming into the main entrance? It was a really cold night out, and they had them do it several times. We set in the car until they finally let the people inside. If my memory serves me correctly, that special was done over a couple different weekends. TRUE BLUE

Yeah I was there when they were shooting the ppl coming in but I wasn't in it. A friend of mine was, though. I was also there the night he shot the Somebodys Somebody stuff, the Gold music vid (I wonder if any of the ppl there collecting the gold flakes still have them) and Rock n Roll's Alive (that was great seeing him in a Vikings coat and moon boots).

Which video or concert ( I think it was shot upstairs at Glams Slam) where T takes a bite of chicken drum stick that fell on the floor? I think that was actually released!

some great stories thanks for sharing. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

The video was Get Wild. It starts with Prince's limo coming down 5th St, and the window rolls down and a woman hands a bodyguard a bottle of Get Wild. Then "Tora Tora" drives down 5th St in a convertible and the NPG are all in the car. When they get out to go in the club, they open the trunk and a high/drunken Sonny T gets out of the trunk. They proceed to go in the club and down the main hall to the elelvators up to the "Erotic City" room and perform the song. DJ Jules is in it too. I think T was just telling stories again, Michael B is eating a bucket of chicken and it spills onto the floor. TRUE BLUE
