"Go" Prince & the Revolution song I heard this on the Parade Rehearsals in Nice, France boot. It seems to be more than just an improv jam being that Lisa and Wendy add background vocals throughout. First I thought it may be a version of "Baby Go Go" but it's clearly not. Anyone ever hear a studio version of this? It's actually a great song and much better than "Splash" and other Revolution rarities.

The longest bit we have circulating of the studio version of "Go" is like 2 minutes long or so and in shitty quality, last time I checked. The fans who have copies of the full song in good quality prefer to horde the stuff they got due to some retarded blood oath they all took after stealing P's music.

Unfortunately, not even 2 mins of this are circulating.
There was a 1 min sample doing the rounds and when Cosmic Day and the rest of snippets started circulating another portion of Go was included.
There is even a fan version melting the two snippets but even so it's under 2 minutes.

GREAT song! I actually like the rehearsal better than the studio version (more heartfelt). But unfortunetly the quality is very muddy. What I wouldn't give for a clean copy!! I would LOVE if P were to record this song again!!

^I'm sure you never heard the full studio version.

Me? nope. never said I did - just the same minute and some change snippet that everyone is familiar with...

Another dumbfuck, know-nothing and simply retarded statement... There are fans out there with this and other songs, who got them from people you don't know shit about without them being stolen and for obvious reasons they can't put them out there... Next time think before you bless this board with more dumbfuckery...

Again, whatever silly boys club pact you all have entered into is only in service to yourselves. You aren't beholden to the rest of the community for anything, but stolen music is stolen music and that's what this post involves.

How is a tape that someone recorded on and given to to work on a stolen object? Again, especially for you, THINK before you bless this board with more dumbfuckery...

I'm sorry you feel that it's not considered stolen property, especially when some of you have sold items you received for profit. Especially with people like T who used to bilk the community for as much as he could by making those ridiculous burned CD sets. Not to mention the fact that the boot labels were buying material from people for upwards of $2000 for some stuff. So yeah, again, it's the lucky few who made ridiculous agreements to withhold (or, you know, sell when its convenient) unreleased material that benefit from the circle jerk that you guys partake in. And the people are great in number, too.
Gosh, what was the name of the dead guy for whom the whole community is to owe our undying respect and admiration to who was responsible for a good portion of the unreleased material we all own now? I forget. He was the same guy who released those 1 minute long versions of songs back in the day around the time T and Lib/Richard Dower got into that fun little bootleg war.

It's not stolen property if the stuff wasn't stolen to begin with... You try to make it seem that every single unreleased song out there was stolen in the first place, which is plain bullshit... Sure there are collectors and archivers out there with stolen material, but that's not the case for the majority of material in possession of a shitload of collectors and archivers, not even the majority of material on shitty bootlegs were stolen...
What some fans do with the material i.e. sell them is their business and doesn't mean that every collector does that, there are more collectors out there who only trade with others (honest ones who don't need to profit off of it and sell them to others who need to profit off them) than there are that sell them, hence that material staying out of the bullshit boot scene... Even though I don't agree with it, you should be glad that there are some of them who sell them or otherwise nothing would ever be released on those shitty boot labels a lot of you people keep supporting... Lose the bootlabels and then see what gets out... Most collectors don't want shit to do with bootleggers and "hoard" (as you think they do) the material for reasons you don't know anything about and it's not some dick sucking contest some of you dumbasses think it is...
Brian... but that's irrelevant...

If you mean labels like Eye Records and Sabotage, I wouldn't worry about them anymore. With everything being able to just be downloaded and major boot labels just releasing re-hash...i really think their time is just about over. I mean...who really buys those officially pressed boots? With Torrents and certain websites allowing free downloads, not many ppl buy boots anymore. So here's a welcome invitation to any collectors out there that have stuff that most of us, not in the loop, don't have. Its been years since we've gotten anything new and different, be nice to have...man..anything new circulating. But thats on you guys, I use to be a nut for this stuff, but since the well has dried, I've moved on to other artists. Still, new material like outtakes and demos would make me come back to Prince. Anyways, just thought I'd put it out there.
Oh, thanks to everyone with Chocolate Box though...that was a tremendous release "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

Why do you act like any of this info is new to me? It isn't. You can get as upset as you want, but the same tired excuses as to why you guys enjoy the politics regarding Prince's unreleased music. If you don't consider it stolen music, I would love for you to ask the people it most affects (ie. Prince). I bet they'd consider it stolen music when a profit is made off of it. This "free boot generation" we live in now is much different than the days of $90 triple sets of material marginally better than the last time we heard it. Different for the general buying public, that is, and not for the people who withhold.

This whole situation is both funny and frustrating to me! All I want to eventually do is here the music. Why all the secrecy and mystique regarding it's origins or who's possession it is in currently? Why not acknowledge that it is not rightfully "owned" by an individual collector or archivist, and release it to those who would apprecate it most? Why the fuck do we have all this drama? If someone has a clean copy of the song "Go", then fucking let us hear it? Is that too much to ask?
Sorry, got a little excited there. All I'm saying is that instead of arguing about the "why's" of it not being released, let's try and focus on the "how's". Make sense? That way, we can all enjoy the man's art...
Just my 2 cents.

...and people wonder why folks don't like to talk about uncirculating stuff.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Who wonders that, though?
The only people who would wonder it are people who don't own copies of uncirculating stuff. And something tells me that even they would eventually tire of the inequity. Pretty sure the extent of it has been that the general public believes the ones who hold onto stuff should let it go and whatever supposedly dire reasons they don't are irrelevant.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Spin man, this is a losing argument. I completely feel you and how you feel left out, thats why I pretty much left. I mean, we're not any of the lucky ones and we'll never be so why bother. These ppl have those songs and they are holding to it for their reasons. Whether we agree or disagree with them is irrelevant and ultimately futile to argue about. So getting a hold of those awesome unreleased songs is one of those, 'it's be nice to have, but not gonna happen'. Agreed. That's primarily what's gotten me more into the live boots. Typically, you don't really have to worry about people playing the same kind of games kicking people out of the sandbox. Those releases nowadays from FBG, Fullasoul, Akashic, etc are awesome stuff. In some cases, way more exciting than the prospect of having to mine studio versions of uncirculating stuff out of the cold grip of boot collectors.

Because of the frustrated post you made and come off as someone who doesn't know shit when you start accusing all people who have "uncirculating" stuff to have some holier-than-thou attitude by not releasing them...
It isn't. You can get as upset as you want, but the same tired excuses as to why you guys enjoy the politics regarding Prince's unreleased music.
Not upset... Just tired of the whining and same old bullshit rants of people who don't know shit...
If you don't consider it stolen music, I would love for you to ask the people it most affects (ie. Prince). I bet they'd consider it stolen music when a profit is made off of it.
And what if Prince himself gave tracks to people to work on/from/with? If people make a profit out of the tracks it's still not stolen material... It's just people being people/cunts...

That was a useless post... I'll make it simpler for you: If Prince gave me a bunch of handwritten letters and I gave photocopies of them to you and you then sell them to someone else does it make those letters stolen material?
