Would Prince have a better shot at U.S. success with 20Ten or a a new album?

Since, the U.S. may possibly not see 20Ten anytime soon; I would bet it comes out in some way shape or form; even the Black Album eventually saw release, as did "Gold" which had a release date of "Never." Maybe it'll eventually be paired with concert tickets or something.

So, at this point, what's your OPINION now that we've all had a while to soak in 20Ten.

Would he be better off forging ahead with a new disc or giving the U.S. proper chance to get 20Ten?

--

I think 20Ten should be still given away somewhere free in the U.S..

??????

Release 20Ten as a two-disk album with ten new songs. Make a better case too. The cardboard case sucks.

No one ever said it's not coming out in the US. In fact, the big rumor mill says late summer (Sept), and it'll come out.

I never said anyone said it. It's my opinion. You also said it was coming out July 22 or something like that.

I said that was only a theory, based on the Planet Earth process, which was the same time a few years ago. I was only basing that on past actions w/ releasing an album. There were differing factors, like a distribution deal already in place, opposed to the release in Europe being the only thing in place (like 20Ten's). The thing about late summer is from other sources, not my own theory.

I don't think he'll release it.

It'd bomb seeing as anyone remotely interested enough, either has, or can easily get a copy quite easily.

He should concentrate on a few career-spanning box-sets, different eras. including demo's, outtakes and rarities. Throw it in with that if he wants.

Next project please.

Oh I think he does care, this is why he released it in the UK, first. The fans across the pond seem less critical than we. We here in the U.S. get so caught up in what he should be doing that we forget what he has done and what is IS doing. Damn shame.

If he released it here I'll be shocked. I thinking it won't happen. On to the next project please!

It's kinda too soon to wonder if it's gonna be put out next month. I'm thinking when "Planet Earth" came out in the UK that it took less than a week or two to announce the release of the album here. I wonder if he has a selected fan base in Europe like he does in America since he didn't even release the album in other European countries (besides the UK, Portugal, Belgium, France and Germany).

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for how he decided where he was gonna realease this thing.... why the UK, and just selected scattered cities and release dates? If anything I'da picked the cities then had the CD's all come out at the same time. Who's decision was that? Not that you would know or anything, I'm just thinking out loud...

I'm thinking ole boy has releasing problems now... I guess this route was really the only route he was looking to take. He basically has ended releasing it online and his dealing with record labels are noted. But why not release it everywhere else (not just America) as what he wanted? It's hard knowing what's going on and I rather just wait the outcome than figure it out. We'll see what happens by September. If nothing happens by then, then we'll have to move on for good.

Gotcha. But really tho this is PRINCE! I don't know any major metro newspaper in the US that wouldn't be willing to pay him to put his CD in a Sunday paper. Who would say no to that? I mean yeah they'd have to come up with the money upfront, but they'd recoup that on the back end and these newspapers are hurting for readers. It would be a pretty tacky way to go (I'd be like eek seeing the new 20Ten in say the NY Post), but at least he'd be getting paid which is what he wants... I guess. neutral

the same could be said for the lack of release for lotusflow3r, it would have been killer to have a worldwide release as it was a solid effort so we have to find it on import instead, although now it's way cheaper than it was initially.

Good point. Im sure most die hards here in the US have it already, either physically or otherwise, but more people would be willing to LISTEN if he distributed it via the papers.

I don't even GET the whole newspaper thing anyway. It's still tres tacky and so beneath him. He's such a little bitch. Just create a freaking (FREE) website so people all over the world can buy the damn CD and stop playing! mad mad mad

God, he's like your super stubbon, frustrating boyfriend who doesnt listen to you.
