He played it once on the ONA Tour, iirc, even opened the Aalborg concert with it but with different music. It sounded like a different song, but the same lyrics.

A big fat YAY on that. I was listening to it today and thinking THIS is what P can do when he's really FEELING it, not just putting stuff out just to put it out. 20Ten feels like that, like he was like okay here you go, slaps the CD into some papers and does a little tour to promote. ONA Piano feels like an inspired effort and it shows. Love the CD AND this song in particular.

in the 1st way i thought piano and vocals on a new prince thats boring . Well like i do always i put it in the cd player, And skip from the one 2 the other song. It was nice 4 a start. I had a very stressfull week last week and thought come sit down with the headphones and a book. I put one nite alone in my player and yes, there came the magic. I felt totally relaxed. It's amazing how Prince does it everytime. I like his new way very much its relaxing maybe its better i am getting older 2 . my favorit songs on the album are a case of u and young and beautiful and pearls by the swine. well Prince keep going .

I am feeling it more than words can say. This release demonstrates yet again the achingly beautiful meticulous musicianship and melody that is within Prince. He does no wrong. A stunningly wondrous achievement.

What a fabulous album!! The simplicity of Prince’s voice with the Piano is beautiful. I especially love A Case Of You. Always a favourite Joni Mitchell tune of mine and now loved even more by this interpretation. Thanks Prince!

The songs/children seem very personal and the entire CD creates a feeling of actually experiencing one night alone with Prince sharing intimate details of his life. They made me think and dedicating "A Case of U" 2 John L. was a beautiful thing - another intimate moment. This CD as well as past creations like "Condition of the Heart" and "Solo" define what "song-writing" should be: an intimate exchange between creator and listener. Keep it flowin' Prince, keep it flowin'.

Absolutely love it! Thank you, Prince! An unexpected and wonderful surprise in the mailbox this week. I've played it for my family and friends, ones who aren't especially big Prince fans, and it's won him some new fans. It shows his talent and versatility, showcasing not only his playing ability as a musician, but his skills as a craftsman songwriter.

First, pardon my english it's always more difficult to express exactly what you feel if it's not in your own language.

For me, "One Nite Alone" really marks the beginning of a new era for Prince AND his listeners : with that beautiful album, he really plays something I call "free music" (not free jazz). No major company would have published such an intimate collection of songs. It seems that Prince communicates directly with us through these songs the feeling was almost the same with "The Truth", but not really the same. "One Nite Alone" is OUR music.

I was not a member in 2001 because for it's too heavy to download music (it's not in my "culture" to do that : I'm an "old school" music lover, I buy records everyday everywhere), but this year, this idea of sending new cds through mail, I like that ! But after this release, things will never be the same, I mean, now, buying another new Prince in a regular record shop, the thrill would not be there...

One of things I love about Prince is that he writes from the heart and what he write about seems to reflect what is going on with him at that time. His music always seems to help the listener also find that place within themselves. I particularly find this to be true about the One Night Alone CD. What i also love about the CD is that there is a feeling of no specific time or space, just a state of mind. It's haunting, it's sexy, it's naughty, it's thoughtful, it's really oh so beautiful balance of music and pure soul. The One Night Alone CD makes you feel he is at one with only U,the piano and Prince. Eye feel he should keep this one for the "fams". It's that special. His choice of words are important and the format he chose makes U focus on words is extraordinary. I don't have to fight with a lot instumentation to HEAR and FEEL what he is saying to me. He takes you on a exqusite ride of emotion and and insight into a love. Prince has obviously had this song to sing for a long time. Eye love hearing all the words and the tribute of a man in love. One Night Alone is all that eye expected and more. It is rare a man can express emotion at this level and still impart this experience to women in such detail. "P", you outdid yourself this time! But I know you have another surprise waiting "just around the corner!" Eye can't wait to hear theese tunes performed at "Xenophobia".

Howmy feelin' it? Are Ya Kiddin? It's excellent. it is a laid back recording of prince doing what he does best. making music. it is beautiful and the songs are very nice. "A case of you" is just awesome. "Avalanche," it's nice to see that there is an artist out there who isn't afraid of the truth, EVER. History? WHO'Story? And "You're gonna see me" moves me. It is my favorite because it hits close to home. Ever sice the first four songs came out on NPGMC first year, I have been playing that song quite a bit. we have been wanting something like this for a very long time and it does not disappoint. the fact that it is recorded to tape gives it a nice warmth. almost as if to represent candlelight. very nice. it is simple and well produced without being over produced. also, the length lends itself to the style. OFCOURSE, i would have loved a two our session of prince working his way through his musical catalog on a solo piano, but i feel that this was the right length. better to leave 'em wantin' more. let's face it, we always want more. it says something about the art when the most prolific recording artist (probably) in history cannot release enough music to fully satisfy the appetite of the family. like an eagle feedin her beggin' young, it's never enough. thank you for tryin', though. we appreciate every bit of it. and this is a great sign of what's to come.

I'm definitely feelin it. It's such beautiful music, but it's very emotionally charge. It turns me to MUSH. I listen to it once all the way through, and now I'm trying to get pass One Night Alone. I think I'm stuck but that's normal for me with Prince's Music.

I've always loved the Prince expressess himself through music, but I must confess I'm a sucker for him on the piano. This CD has been long overdue, but better late than never! I suppose, I'm grateful that he has waited until now when he is spiritually together because now my 9 year old can listen and appreciate real music as well. Thanks its been a great ride....I hope it never ends.

It is really enjoyable to hear Prince stripping down his arrangements to the essentials and showing the world that he can impress as much on the piano as he does with his guitar. Each track soothes you like a lullaby through the rollercoster of emotions and sentiment from heartbreak to councel on relationships. All round a nice edition to my collection and one that i can play to my daughter without fear of unwholesome language!

what can i say, i was so surprised to check my mail and find a brand new prince cd for free. that made my day. i popped it into my cd player and thats where it has stayed, finally a cd has came along thats knocked the rainbow children out of my cd player (im sure it appreciates the rest) I became a Prince fam around 7 years ago and his music and message really saved my life, i was going down a dark road and he uplifted me so high ive yet to come down. I like all the songs but my favorites are One Night Alone, U're gonna c me, Case of U, and Avalanche, and one more thing I can only imagine how great "The Last December" would sound on VH1. I mean can anyone tell todays trend of artists apart? Prince you are the greatest, the most inspirational and I love u with all of my being. Peace and B WIld!!!!!

I think it's an amazingly good album.....and that surprise Joni Mitchell cover does the trick completely. (Is this Prince first Joni Mitchell cover ever on record?). I really love this record.

I must say that "One Nite Alone" one of the greatest collections of music I've heard in a quite a while. I allowed one of my friends to hear the CD when it arrived in the mail and he was asking me where he could buy one - making the comment, "This has got to be my very favorite Prince CD!" I have to almost agree with him. There is a lot of music to compare it to, so to say "favorite" is hard to determine. I will say it's in my top 3 of all time. My stand out is track 8, "Pearls b4 The Swine." The melody and lyrics touched me deeply, as I could identify so personally with it. I just wish Prince would release a 10 minute version of it (asking a lot, eh?). If this is the quality of music you get from NPGMC, I am glad I am a part of it. Thank U 2 Prince for allowing us to be part of "The Family."

here's the test: the sound system in my car is much better than the one i have at home, so when an album strikes my fancy while i'm driving, i take 'the long way' to my destination. let's just say, when i popped ONA into the player and headed out in search of groceries, it took me about an hour and a half (down minnehaha parkway and around all three lakes) to drive two miles to the store (which was in the other direction entirely) while listening to ONA

Simply put...Love it.

To elaborate...The arrangements soothe the soul and the sincerity of the lyrics pull heartstrings. The vocals are earnest and heartfelt, something we don't get much of in this world filled with "top of the pop chart" boys and girls. The perfect cd for a mellow evening. I recommend a bubble bath and glass of merlot. Joni Mitchell's poetry is always a thing of beauty.

Many many thanks 4 this incredible work of art. One Nite Alone is special. Full of Love, care-taking, questions (without giving one-way answers), anger, beautiful voice & arrangement, colored pictures, catching melodies - and most of all Prince at his best. I'm glad 2 hear, he's still the one who combines accoustic & electric instruments in the most organic way. Each song is alive - on its own and in communication with the others. I really like The Rainbow Children, and played it to death, untill, I downloaded One Night Alone, Case of U, and the other piano songs, in the club. Now to get this CD rocks!!!!!! I love just him and the piano, and i can sing along to it. Personally ONE NIGHT ALONE is the most satisifying Prince CD I have. It would be cool to hear it on the radio.

This CD is a work of art. He has done an excellent job. I knew how talented he was and have for years seen his varying types of music but this is a real master. Not because i am a piano freak either, it just amazes me that he did this. Wonderful job by an amazing musician.

Prince's awesome command of the keys is mezmerising, ntimate, and surprisingly nvititng.

The over-all flow of the mood is consistantly SMOOTH. Nothing n there 2 jar the nerves, but much nsight 2 stir the senses. Easy morning listening, gentling n2 a peaceful, candles and ncense, nite vibe. U never have 2 turn it off!

Well, Prince, you did it again, but this time you simply outdid yourself. I felt I was attending a private, one-on-one concert when listening to One Nite Alone. Your voice is so sweet and the piano complements you so well. It doesn't matter that I heard a few of these songs before (from last year's Music Club), as this was such a beautiful and original layout, with the songs flowing so well together. The printed lyrics were an added bonus.

One Nite Alone...what can I say about One Nite Alone. My first impressions of the CD were very positive. I'm always amazed at the quality of material Prince can produce. After so many years doing "the work" his music has become very refined. This album at first sounds fairly simple - piano and voice - but listening further thru my headphones I realise there is so much more going on. I love the attention 2 detail Prince takes with his music. He is one of the only artists who I find has constantly improved over the years, making it more xciting and leaving me in a state of anticipation wondering what he is coming up with next. I'm sure many a fam would agree with that point.

The title track I've loved since I heard it in January this year...actually I also loved 'A Case Of U,' 'Here On Earth,' and most of all 'U're Gonna C Me.' I found myself trying 2 imitate that song 4 a whole week non-stop. People were telling me 2 "shut the f@#! up!!"

Upon hearing the other songs on the album I instantly feel in love with 'Objects In The Mirror.' One thing I love about it is the imagery it conjures in my mind. I'm still trying 2 figure out xactly what he means by the line "I can put my load in the dryer". I have a fair idea...

I really do like all the songs on this album. One of the things that struck me about the album is the beauty of all the songs. I don't know if it's just because of the sound of the piano or what, but that's the best way I can describe it. I'd like 2 add that Prince's piano prowess also stood out, and also the way his voice hasn't faltered over the years. As I said b4, it's sounding really refined. I guess that's the result of loving what u do, and doing what u do in a state of freedom.

The one thing that may b perceived as a down side 2 this collection of songs is the length. Being only 35 minutes in length I leaves u wanting a little bit more...which may have been the intention because tell u what, I'm hanging 4 the next CD!

Whatever the case may b, I hope that "like a bird" he'll keep on singing "a song that never leaves u're mind" because if he keeps churning out this quality of sound I definitely want some!

Wow! I'm blown away, yet again. What I respect and honor most about Prince is his versatility, and his ability to re-create himself again and again. It takes courage to do what he does, and to say what he says. I'm a yoga teacher, so I understand the path of transcendance and transformation. I take Prince to the yoga mat with me for my inspiration, as a student and as a teacher. Please convey my personal thanks to him. It's my privilege to be a patron of the funky arts.

People, I'm loving the ONA cd! I have been waiting a long time for this album. It is absolutely fantastic, it always leaves you wanting more...so back to track 1 because there is "Joy In Repetition." Thanks for disc one, looking forward to the next three....can we expect a live show???

It's excellent. Some parts remind me of Keith Jarrett (who I like very much). I like the live feel it has a lot. I found it in the mail arriving back from holiday, so that was a nice surprise in between all the bills and other non-enjoyable mail. Never mind those complaining about the CD being too short or containing songs that were downloads last year. I didn't care much for the downloading (also because it took forever and we pay for the local phonetime in Europe, contrary to the US), I like CD's much better! And for me, it's long enough. LP's used to be 2 x 18 minutes and nobody complained in those days.

Don't know if One Night Alone is a reflection of Prince's musical maturity or his confidence that the audience is now mature enough to allow/appreciate this style/expression of his passion and messages. If it's one or a combination of both -- the experience (listening, hearing, feeling, resonating) is delicious.

It is an offering that is clean and uncluttered by competing instrumentation. Just the partnering/mating of the piano, and occasionally other instruments that support and compliment/complement and his voice -- both singing and speaking.

The poetry is soulful/soul-filled, thought-provoking.

This work is great for listening to alone (driving, walking through/absorting and being absorbed by nature, reading (after listening to it enough so that you are no longer so drawn into it that you can't do/think about anything else) or with others at deliberate soundbite parties or other intimate sharings.

Love the sensual power and God-presence that it bathes the listener with.

The one that feels really special to me is Young and Beautiful ; The whole album is far away from The Rainbow Children (for me)! So it was a somewhat 'exotic' surprise after listening Rainbow Children. I also love Have a Heart. There is more peace and understanding in this album than in TRC.

I Love It!! I have always been a big fan of Prince ballads. This is a great CD to add to my collection of. I also enjoyed the symbolism used in Pearls B4 The Swine. The words make you know that he is still human, with the same struggle between spirituality and the world that the rest of us have. Once you become a child of the light, the journey is just beginning...he is obviously seeing that...big time. It's hard with his position and past reputations in this world. I see the conflict that he has with his fans...so much criticism. Anyway, I loved the CD. The music has not changed...still hella good!! Just the topic has changed and that is different, but very good. Looking forward to The Celebration.

Moving, simple, complex, beautiful. I thought I liked A Case of You best after downloading it from the NPG site, but now You're Gonna See Me caught me unawares when I wasn't looking where I was going and suddenly I fell over a "rope that lassoed the moon". Pearls before the Swine - brilliant. Probably the best album since Gold. Is the sheet music published anywhere?

The One Nite Alone CD is WONDERFUL!! Truly shows the extreme talent the Prince is. I cant think of any other artist who could pull that off, only Prince. Always looking 4ward 4 more music from Prince.

Thanks for asking because it has been in my cd player since I recieved it in the mail last week.Prince has some very romantic nuances on this cd that really can be felt through the speakers. I also get a very intimate passion on it as well. Now I can understand what the tour name was all about. It makes me even sadder that I have a prior commitment during the week of the Celebration. But I am sure fun will be had by all. My only complaint is that there is no picture of Prince on the cd unless there is one hidden. Thanks and GOD bless.

I can't get the title track out of my head! I also love "Here On Earth". The whole album is good though. The more I listen, the more it grows on me. I really love the lyrics to "Young & Beautiful". "Pearls B4 The Swine" has a very nice sound also. I'm never ceased to be amazed. I'm so happy that Prince found his calling in life. Music can have such a profound effect on us as human beings and I know that I'm not the only person who had a great big smile on my face when I opened the mail and saw that familiar cd package!s

The ONA CD has played continuously in my home since arriving two days ago when I was in the yard gardening. It was wonderful to plant in the garden and take in the music. I want to express my heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to Prince and the NPGMC for creating this CD and sending it out. The songs are exquisite and have set the tone of tranquility and thoughtfulness throughout my home. The existence of the NPGMC and having this incredible link to Prince music and "community" has been a source of deep joy, inspiration, and amazement for me. I absolutely 'feel' this CD and its songs and it is a unique and never-before experience because it is very stripped down and literally seems like One Nite Alone with Prince, a piano and your spirit.

I just wanted 2 let u know that I received "One Nite Alone" CD. I've been a fan going on 22 years. This is 1 of the biggest highlights of the past 22 years w/Prince. I've listened to the CD acouple of times now, and although I don't think its going to please everyone, I happen to thinks its a nice album. 35 miuntes of Prince at the piano (what more could we ask for). The standout track on this CD has to be the Joni Mitchell's song "A Case of U" a great rendition. I thought some of the songs were abit moody - eeerie, but that might have been the idea from Prince. The packaging is nice and effective. Looking forward to future CDs this year. Maybe the next one will be a guitar album, the next a bass driven album. Keep up the good work, and don't forget the people in the UK, we're still waiting for a tour, its been 4 years!!!!

The "One Nite Alone" album is focused, flowing, cohesive, gorgeously melodic, and from start to finish perhaps the best display of Prince's voice and vocal arrangements to date.

"Avalanche" is one of the most achingly beautiful songs I've ever heard. The way the first chorus comes rolling in over the end of the first verse (very much like an avalanche) stopped me dead in my tracks. A stunning work of art that very well could become a new standard. They'll be playing this one with the best of the best in honor of Prince's musical legacy 100 years from now.

With "The Rainbow Children", his current concert tour and "One Nite Alone", Prince appears to have found his muse again in a big way.

it is just a wonderful experience. The CD I have been waiting for since years. It was always my dream to hear and feel Prince vocal and piano only for a hole record.

One Nite Alone is so beautiful. Prince's voice so often gets lost in a huge wall of sound, and here, in this CD, you can hear every note, every nuance. When he draws a breath, you feel so close. And here's where his mastery of the piano can be heard. When he's singing and playing his funk, I'm never sure where Prince starts and the synthesizers end, but on this CD there was no mistaking his music and voice. Please tell him thank you.

As ever Prince's innermost feelings transcend this wonderfull album; great atmospheric music accompanied by honest thought provoking lyrics which at times make you want to cry - you sometimes feel like your eaves dropping, so personal is the content!

I like it. It's beautiful music. It takes a bit getting used to at first, but with every new spin I like it more.

This cd is ROMANCE. It's beautiful, it's an expression of softness, love and tenderness. I realy do like the voice and the pianowork of my wonderful Artist ! My favourite song : " Young and beautiful" and track 10 (no voice, only piano...). Thanx !!!

I truly love the new CD. I have been singing Prince's version of "Case of U" since he released it last year in the club. I really dig the piano as an emotionally charged instrument, and I believe that stripped down music makes u appreciate beautiful musicianship and un-equaled songwriting even more.s

They say sometimes less is better, I feel this sums it up, simple and beautiful, a man alone with his piano, in tune with his roots, inspired by the woman He loves... Very touching, this feels 2 me as the response 2 a few questions maybe words alone couldn't answer... It's interesting to follow the way we "evolve" through life and yet realize that we are still heading towards the same direction.. The road might seem a little bumpy at times, nevertheless under the surface it's the "ultimate" road and your soul never fails what the minds denies... Prince U are Love as we all are and it is wonderful 2 witness U sharing it so freely amongst friends... U found your muse, maybe oneday we all will... May she always B your Home and make U feel safe and peaceful 4 happiness is the most precious gift of all... )))

It's blessed by the spirit of Joni! Prince knows (like Lisa used to do it too) how to play the piano in that same wonderfully gracious way! It's short, but this kind of album has to be that way, don't u think? Besides I miss the old times when an album was max. 40 minutes long. You could feel a lot more unity in every LP, back then...

I really like the onenitealone CD. Especially the tracks 4, 7 and 8! This sound really makes a nice the perfect. Prince is just a genius. There is no musical style he cannot go into.

So here I am... me and the new ONA-cd
'Avalanche' on my ears. 'Avalanche' from the official One Nite Alone demo cd. No boot here. This is straight from 'the master'. I received it today. Since Controversy, on the first day of any offical new Prince-release, I would go the recordshop to buy it instantly. Curious what was prepared for me. Today it was delivered at my house. This is now! He is one of the few artists who really understood that there are new ways of connecting to your fans. For me it works. Today I have the feeling of Prince directly delivering me a package. Ok, I have paid for it, but to be honest I have almost forgotten about that. I had the same feeling with the TRC download. But this official hardcopy is much more fun.
The package itself: uh... woh! Strange, great, hard to dig now and then, but oh so surprising and also 'deep'. It will grow, much faster then I can now think of. The man is so free now. TRC is a daring album, no matter wether you like it or not, the recent ONA-live shows are a great example of a highly spiritual man having great fun. What I saw in DC was so alive and emotional AND such a feast. The ONA-cd is a complete other direction. Very intimate. A bit like a 'stripped Truth-album', but: no guitar now, piano rules here. I enjoy his recent musical journey very much. He is in one of his very creative moods/periods.

Great stuff, loved it ! Played it for the first time in my car driving home from the seaside after an exhausting day running around to get the birthday cards printed and posted for my nephew who came into our world that same day (may 21st). The calm and relaxing tunes brought a smile on my face and made me feel really good. Felt like my girlfriend and I, the stars, the soft darkness of the night were one. Funny what music can do...

I just wanted to say thank you for the One Night Alone CD. The music is fantastic... particular tracks that stand out to me are Avalanche and You're Gonna See Me. The cd as a whole has that laid back vibe that, far from allowing you to drift off, keeps you attention and intrigues you. The vocals are delicate and warm and the piano is fascinating. Thanks so much for the CD and keep up the great work. I'll look forward to receiving the next installment of the NPGMC... whenever that might be.

The album is perfect. I know from experience how hard it can be to accurately record the piano - one of, if not THE most difficult instruments to record. You have done a beautiful job! I have been listening to it in my studio. The amount of detail in the recording is tremendous! The subtle sounds of you playing (foot pedals, etc.). The clarity of the strings (it is amazing how well I can hear them. It is as though I am right next to you.). The natural reverbration and sibilance of the hammers hitting the strings - WOW!

So, thank you for sharing these intimate and beautiful recordings with us. See you in June for another fantastic Celebration!
