Could u imagine Prince being a sideman/session musician?

I've always wondered if any jazz or funk musician has ever considered offering Prince to contribute on his/her record as a sideman, playing either guitar or piano/keys. Not just guesting on a single song adding his parts at Paisley Park like he did with Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder, Common or Rhonda Smith, but being in the studio working on a whole record.

I mean if i was Me'Shell Ndegeocello or Candy Dulfer or Maceo Parker or any musician able to reach Prince, i'd love to have him come in the studio and play with my band and record a whole album.

I understand that Prince isn't necessarly at ease being in another musician's environment and universe, but if the human relationship between him & the other involved musicians is good, he'd be more than able to do such a thing. He's such an amazing player, how on earth comes that it hasn't happened yet?

Any thoughts?

of course Prince was a side musician in the past.

check out Stevie Wonders' What the fuss

after StEvie says:Prince pop it ,Prince stats playing funk guitar riff that is instant classic.

great contribution

he contributed on Kate Bush track i think it's called Red Shouse or something it's from 1993.

He played jazz guitar on one Alan Leeds album and nobody can even notice it's Prince

Obviously you only read the title of my post and not its content rolleyes

I have no idea which Alan Leeds album u r referring to, since Alan Leeds isn't a musician. Possibly u r talking about Eric Leeds, in which case what u say is a bit confusing (Prince could hardly be considered a sideman on Times Squared, and as far as i know he never played a note on Eric's 2 other records).

well, maybe for the off gig or two, but permanently? No, maybe if he was never famous.
