Hey!

I have been thinking about what my favourite Prince songs could be and I think I have found the answer. Could be cool to hear what experienced Prince fans think about these and if anyone else have a similar list. You have to keep in mind that I am pretty fresh when it comes to prince, I have only listened to him for a few years, and I don`t think I deserve to call myself a fan yet - because to me the title "fan" of something needs to be earned. So there is a lot of Purple music I haven`t heard. So, take a look at my list, and I wouldn`t mind some advice on other songs you think I would like based on the songs on the list

1. The One

2. One nite alone

3. Old friends 4 sale (both first version & newer version)

4. Electric Intercourse

5. The grand progression

My God, these are absolutely amazing, masterpieces IMO!

Your humility is kinda cute , but I don't think you don't need to "earn" your way into being a Prince fan. We all have different tastes and most of us tend to gravitate towards Prince's music according to our own preferences in genre. I find that I often enjoy Prince's funky tunes, and bluesy/soulful ballads the most because those are the genres I gravitate towards in general. That's not to say I don't love When U Were Mine or Dreamer, 'cause I do. But then again, I enjoy most of Prince's music.

I guess the natural question would be what haven't you heard yet that you're really interested in hearing?

Well, I also love a lot of his funky upbeat songs but obviously I love his ballads the most - I really think he has a special way with ballads, and I could also easily have put Insatiable or Adore on the list, too.

I really think it´s too bad that it´s so difficult to get a lot of his music, including several of my "favourites" on the list. He really doesn´t make it easy for us

My top 5 Prince songs - comments?

You seem to like the mellower/ballad side. Dig your choices.

I've never quite seen the attraction of 'The Grand Progression' myself, it seems pretty average (nothing new really covered).

Cool to see that there is a lot of different tastes. When it somes to your list I have only heard Peach, which is fantastic. I like that a lot, too. As for the rest I haven´t heard it so I can´t comment on them.

BTW, there was one of you who hada song called "The morning after" on the list. I have never heard that one either, but according to the title it sounds to me like a ballad. Is it a ballad, and in that case, which album is it on? Maybe I would like it??

I´ve noticed that there are many Prince fans in here that doesn´t really like The Grand Progression that much. I think it´s great but that´s also the only song on the list that maybe could stand the risk of being exchanged.

Just another question: Has Prince ever performed Old friends 4 sale live before?? (When)

In all seriousness, since you already "get" his ballad side... I say check out stuff like "The Same December" (and all of the Chaos and Disorder album), "Billy Jack Bitch" (and all of The Gold Experience), "I Know" (and all of LoveSexy), and "Sarah" from The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale.
