This is a far fetched answer.. but I would like to see him take one year or even two off from music completely, and go live life somehere outside the Paisley world and travel. Then come back with new ideas, new sounds in his head and start from there. And then collaborate with some new people. In other words stop drawing from the same well over and over again.

I could imagine, that it could be cool if he 1) took a year residence in some American place, 2) held a secret audition to find the top musicians in the local town, with a producer who could keep track of the superficial things (not an artistic producer) 3) jammed for months writting together with the new band, 4) had some concerts, recorded it, 5) made over dubs and adjustments with the band 6) released the new album, maybe entitled whatever city it was made in (Like, erhm, "4 Months in Atlanta").

I could see it work. It would maybe create a sense of community around the music in the city; it would be something new for Prince, he'd be out of his element and he'd have to work with musicians that might not think as he does. He'd even have an opportunity to test his religion's doctrine about erasing your ego, by having to join a community of musicians and work as a group (a group is still a group, even if it has a leader). And it would be a sort of an event to go to the first concert.

I could be done, couldn't it? Though Prince would probably need to ease up on the control issues.

And it ain't never gonna happen, unfortunately.

Take off the make-up, put on some normal clothes, throw away the autotune and sit in a room with a 4 track, a few instruments and go to town.

Release ALL the vault tracks, as is, no bringing up to date or making swears play in reverse, I would take a month off of work if this ever happened smile

I don't care about his clothes or make-up, but I'm with you on the other things. I'd love it if he stopped listening to his "advisors", locked himself in a room with some real instruments, and pressed record.

Also, I wish he would lay off the rap in his songs - cause he doesn't really like or respect rap, and it shows.

Finally, put a little more effort into the lyrics.

Remaster Warner Brothers catalog featuring tons of cool stuff. A Box set of Jill Jones, The Family and other tracks he gave away all performed with Prince vocals!

To answer my own post... I would like to see him include his lyrics in cool liners on his cd's. Plus, I'd like to see some of his classic covers, like Just My Imagination, etc.

Not to sound mean, but for someone to say that when they are everywhere, everyday it seems on this site sounds like you really find happiness in his music or something. If he was not a major part of your happiness or life, I don't see why a person would devote so much time and post so many comments in this forum. What gives?

The basic question I had for this was for those who continue to say that his new music sucks, or that he needs to do this or that. Not so much what he can do to make your "life" happier... just what he can do musically to make people satisfied. ?? smile

^ Nah I think some folks just don't deal with Prince in that way. Only thing he can do is be Prince. Hell ain't like what we say is gonna convince him anyway. I wouldn't try it. It's like other artists I'm a fan of. I used to participate in threads about "what could so and so artist do to make you happy?" After a certain pop legend's death, I've decided NOT to say what could an artist do to make me happy because it's not like they're family or anything or they're part of my heartbeat. Prince's music is part of my life but not to the point where I would think "oh he should do this or do that". What's the point? You get what I'm saying?

I would like to go see a show where the main focus is new material. It hasn't happened since Gold. After seeing him live, it always made me get into the album at the time even more. I love the hits, but I want to see something new. What would most make me happy would be to release all the professionaly filmed shows he's done over the years.

What you say is so true. The thing is, there are a lot of people here on this site and elsewhere who talk and act like they deserve something personally from Prince. How many times have we heard about the LF thing, the tee shirt thing, the $77 thing? Yes, people will get mad at stuff like that and blame him personally. Others will go on and on about how he needs to change his music, change his lyrics, change his religion. Prince is a special person, and the road he follows is twisting, like a winding river. Ever changing, spiritually and emotionally. Whether we decide to get on the boat and row with him is up to us, but for people to complain constantly and critique every single thing that he does is ridiculous. It is like they expect him to come to their house, knock on the door, say that he is sorry for whatever he did wrong to them and hand them a bundle of cd's and dvd's from the vault. I can't imagine spending so much time dissecting every little thing he does. Nothing Prince does in his life should have a profound affect on anyone's life. Nor should any other celebrity out there. The hard truth is that many times what you see is not what you get. How many people used to be such huge fans of Mel Gibson and now we know how he is? How many people followed every shot from Tiger Woods only to learn of his transgressions? It makes you think... smile

When I answered the question, I wasn't thinking that deeply.

I don't even listen to Prince all the time. Lately it's only been when he shuffles thru in my daily listening- the novelty of 20TEN as even worn off.

But when I answered, I just meant that I'd like to go to another Prince concert. I don't care who he dates, what he wears, how he worships.... I'm not even that particular about what songs he might play at a concert. I'd just like to see him live one (or more) time. If I don't, it won't mean I'll never be happy again. Hell, my life is a lot more complicated than anything Prince's music could add or take away.

But I definitely get what you guys are saying.... nod

Give me a couple million (or thousand) and some indirect publicity. Even though I'm not a chick I wouldn't want to be one of his protoges or side projects.

In all seriousness I'm just happy that he gave the world "Raspberry Beret" not to mention the many other songs that have given me much joy and inspiration.
