Hey I like Prince's 2 most hated albums Prince's 2 most hated albums by hardcore fans are overwhelmingly Chaos and disorder and Rave Un2o the joy fantastic. I liked Chaos but I loved Rave. Chaos was strictly a rock album and it has some good cuts like the title track, the same december, the excellent zanalee. I think it is a misunderstood album. I dont know why you all dont like Rave. This is my 5th favorite Prince album ever!!! To me, this album has everything. The title track is excellent, Undisputed is great, Tangerine is a short, sweet masterpiece. I couldnt beleive how great this song is. So far, so pleased is a really cool song. Whatever U go, whatever U do is an unbelievable song. I guess you all beleive this album sounds too commercial. Well I think his most commercial sounding albums are his best. Purple rain is my favorite album of all time from any musical artist. And to top all this off, I hated Lovesexy. I thought that was one of his worst albums. I guess I am an unusual Prince fan.

Not that you asked me, but my two least-liked are New Power Soul and Emancipation.
I enjoy Chaos and Disorder (except for the guest rappers), and a smattering of tunes from Rave.

My two least fave are D&P and 0{+>. They had singular classic moments, but a lot of average stuff that would of had me in a panic had i been a fan at that time. C&D and Rave are good albums, but for Prince, just ok albums, IMO. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

I can find one album that I like quite a bit between the two Rave albums. I've always LOVED C&D, but I still don't think it's a very good album. Or rather, I don't think the songs are very good. Prince was angry and gave WB C&D as a contractual obligation. It sounds NOTHING like any other Prince album, which could be a great thing if the songs were just a little bit better. But for a number of reasons I've always really loved that album, weaknesses and all. There are several other Prince albums from the nineties that I like WAY less than Rave and C&D. Shoot, I'm pretty sure I like Planet Earth less than both of those releases.

Chaos' is a goodun, Rave... er, not so much.
Definately not his worst. Those would be NEWS and Chocolate Invasion. Icky.

It is the remix version of Rave Un2, it also features the track Beautiful Strange, if you like the Rave album, you will like Rave In2....

I would agree with you, but it'd be better without that stupid Rave remix.

And i agree with you, the Rave remix is my least favorite on the album.

I actually like Rave Un2. Most of the tracks are good. (Greatest Romance, Tangerine, So Far So Pleased, etc.) C&D is a different story though. When I first listened to Chaos & Disorder, it did nothing for me; it felt uninspired and really boring. I usually stay away from it. Maybe I need to give it another chance How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

C&D is uneven, but there's some great stuff on there (always makes me raise an eyebrow when I see someone hatin' on 'I Like It There').
Rave is a fucking turd | |

MPLS is certainly worse than Rave, which has 2 classics (TGRES and SFSP) and other decent enough tracks. MPLS is a disgrace
Chaos is "almost" just as good as LF, his other "rock" album...
and hell, give me Chaos anyday instead of The Truth, TRC, ONA or even Emancipation
but yeah, both are uneven records of a bad era for the man, the late-90s...

I like Chaos & Disorder quite a bit. Take Rave In2 and replace the Man'O War remix with the original, and that album is good also. Now New Power Soul, there is an album I hate.

I like so far so pleased way more than the supposed classic because it was a hit you got the look. Same pop rock style but way better to me. Undisputed and the title track from rave are fantastic. I love, love, love Chaos and Disorder. One of his best nineties collections. I don't like I Rock Therefore I Am too much.

Couldn't phrase it any better
Just as well the NPG released it and not Prince.....
Prince is a musician not a lifestyle.

Rave is a great album. I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore is probably in my top 5 favourite Prince songs. TGRES, WUGWUD, Strange But True and Man O War are all killer cuts.
Truly underrated album. [Edited 8/13/10 5:07am]

I always thought PE and NPS were the 2 most hated albums, overwhelmingly.

I loved chaos, not his best HOWEVER da' good thing about it the songs are outstanding "live and in concert" i'm a big rock and guitar fan

Both are good albums. I Like It There and The Same December are two of his best rock songs ever. Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic is very diverse with both good uptempo songs and slow songs, like Baby Knows and I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore.

yup, these two for me are SOOOOOOOO underwhelming. White Mansion, The One, Wasted Kisses and Until Ur In My Arms Again are the only salvageable tracks from FOUR discs of music!? (NPS had a classic ballad in The One and an underrated gem in Wasted Kisses)

I loved rave, only listened to chaos a couple times, can't really remember it. Rave was an inspiration around the time I was finishing my own album. Just seeing how he kept cranking out good music. Of course millions of people love to nitpick but I'm not like that. I like certain songs more than others, agree that he needed other musicians like a hole in the head but strong album. He loves to sabotage his own success and only milks the public when he really needs to.

I love New Power Soul,I think it's a great party album.

When NPS came out I don't recall anyone on the internet saying it was a good album. Same thing really with Rave, although most people considered it an improvement over NPS.
The other albums mentioned here have had a far more positive reception. His 00s albums have gotten a mixed response in general.

Yeah, I thought that the consensus was the Newpower Soul and Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic were his two worst albums.

if the keyword really is "hated" then the most hated album must be TRC. At least the ones that dislike it are very vocal about their sentiments.
On the overall, I haven't seen the same type of unanimous disappointment on any of the more recent Prince albums as NPS and Rave got back in the day. People just couldn't believe it how he had lost his touch, although both albums also contained tracks that the fans liked. These days the comments far more divided and I tend to ignore the more extreme ones myself.
