Prince on the LoveSexy tour, holy mother of god!!! I watched the Let's Go Crazy performance of it and freaked out about what a sex god he was then! I always said I prefer recent Prince's look over the older looks, I thought he had too much body hair and all this stuff, especially in the early part of his career though I loved the 1999 look and parts of Purple Rain. But I watched it and just went nuts thinking that (in my opinion) both Michael and Prince peaked lookswise at 30 and I'm not too far off from that age myself. The hair, the guys, that outfits, his faces, just everything! He's making me feel young again. What other performances would I enjoy if I went nuts for this? As you know, I'm mostly a casual fan with about 10 CD's and have liked him since about 86 though it was from afar and I have a high respect for his talent and influence.

i have the rave unto 2000 dvd and i think hes pretty sexy in that. especially in the greatest romance video . [Edited 8/7/10 4:56am] Why does there have to be a soundcheck? I don't have a songcheck. You don't have a clothescheck.

I have a hard time watching the Lovesexy tour. The outfits he wears make him look like a drag queen. I hate the look. I didnt like the prerecorded samples of his shows during the 80s either. I liked him much better in the 90s even though he still used ALOT of prerecorded music in his shows. I never understood that especially when he supposedly is all about " real music by real musicians" but yet uses alot of memorex!! lol I like and would recommend ANYTHING proshot from 90-94. To me that was Prince at his peak as a live performer. Then again I was a casual Prince fan during the 80s and he didnt really hook me until Diamonds and Pearls came out

His use of recorded samples during the Lovesexy tour does diminish some of the magic.
Fortunately, the Lovesexy show had magic to spare. It was brilliant.

Its one thing to mime along to DATS, or use them cos no-one in the band can do it - but, when you're just using them to add complexity to the music of the show (its not like ANY of Prince's band aren't able to re-produce the music they played), because you'd need another 5 musicians and 7 Prince's for backing vocals, then you can't really say that's a bad thing.
In fact, bands have to be even more tight when playing to DATS, sequences and the like, because you're playing to a predetermined tempo with no leeway. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

They just do. I'd rather have everything be 100% live in a concert. The Let's Go Crazy clip was just discussed in another thread. I love the drums on it, they're kick-ass, but they're obviously recorded because Sheila's out playing timbales. It's just a little disappointing that this great drum work is recorded rather than live (and might not even be Sheila's recording, for all we know).
But don't get me wrong. It's not a big deal. It's just a small thing and by no means does it ruin the show or even come close. It just takes it down a notch in my mind.
