Don't really get the comparison.... but FSS is one of his best ballads. Call My Name is a bit drab to me.
I think a more fitting comparison would be FSS Vs. Shhh. |

They're totally different songs. FSS isn't a love song and CMN is. FSS has 2 guitar solos and prominent guitar effects throughout, CMN does not and is purely a blues/soul ballad.
+1
But since the question has been asked, I will give a strong nod to Call My Name.
For me personally it's one of the three very good songs on Musicology, which is why I always stick up for the album despite most folks reviling it.
Future Soul Song works on zero levels for me. No offense as we all have our own tastes, but the song's music is bland. His vocal approach during the verses is boringly reserved and lacks conviction. And then to top it all off, the chorus sounds like a grammar school teacher trying to get her third graders to perform a sing a long on a bus trip to the local petting zoo....
In all seriousness, it's not a total train wreck, it's just not a very good song IMO.

Wow. FSS and Act of God are the only songs I even play from the album anymore. I can't remember if it was you who trashed Act of God on Ernest's show or not, but I remember the going opinion being that it's a horrible song. Crazy shit!! |

I think it was Squirrel that trashed Act of God. The song itself is interesting, but the lyrics are really a turn off.
For me Sticky Like Glue and Beginning Endlessly are the only two gems on 20Ten. FSS isn't a train wreck like say, Walk In Sand, but I just don't listen to it. |
