U2 can lick my butt. They stole Grammy for best album from Prince back in 87 for Sign of the Times with their crap album Joshua Tree. "Hey Bono, it's called a melody, write one." "Sunday! Bloody Sunday!" barf

Poor single choices, no real tour, unless you count the very small European tour, and countless other Management bluders led the loss of the grammy to the much weaker Joshua Tree. As a U2 fanatic, I hardly ever would call The Joshua Tree "much weaker."

I agree. SOTT could have been HUGE but Prince sunk the project with his failure to tour the US, and killing the momentum by releasing a 2nd single that had zero chance of mainstream success, and by not doing a video until the 3rd single. I love The Joshua Tree, but SOTT should have won.

20ten isn't that good to compare it to anything... i even think Rave blows it away.. Are there any songs as catchy as "tangerine"... or "baby knows"... or " so far, so pleased"... "i love u but don't trust u anymore"

Well..."777 man has to clean his ears.." You nailed that observation, but both of you are at extremes. 20Ten is not in the same Galaxy as SOTT. Saying it isn't that good is probably your opinion, but that's it. 20Ten is not in Prince's bottom ten. No matter how bad you think Everybody Loves Me, or Lay It Down are...they are not in the ballpark with Wedding Feast, Jughead, Daddy Pop, Life O The Party, Push It Up...etc.

20TEN blows Rave right out of the water. The songs are catchy to the point where I have to have breaks & take it off my IPod. I think it's a grower like lovesexy & the rainbow children. There's a lot more going on than you think on first listens, "compassion" and "beginning endlessly" are incredibly complex and clever. Give another few spins on headphones smile

I do like Sign O The TImes a lot but I think there are some weaker songs on there like, Forever In My life, Hot Thing and The Cross.

I prefer 20Ten to Sign O The Times. Some of my other favorite Prince albums are : Dirty Mind, The Gold Experience, Emancipation, 3121. I'm not much for The Rainbow Children though. It's like a Christian Rock Opera and I don't like the mixture of narration and music on the same track.

People have different opinions and you may have a different point of view than me and neither one of us is "right"

Yes in fact every tune on it is far better produced, arranged and performed (apart from I Love U) than those you name in your post.

Sticky like glue, Compassion, Beginning endlessly, Lavaux, Act of God, Laydown kill anything on Rave big time.

I am staggered by your comments, how can you possibly say that forever in my life, hot thing and the cross are weak tracks? The cross is one of my top ten tracks and forever is perfect in every way...

As for 20Ten, A better question would be "What is his Best album of the last decade"
Do or do not, there is no try...

...'Lotusflow3r', which stands up 2 any Prince album ever recorded. With '20ten', he shows contrast by accenting some elements of his past work, while expressing his current state perfectly, and this contrast is what we should all embrace. The same exact contrast he's always shown.

Dude keeps on giving, and folks can't dig. Maybe, just maybe... it's Prince's fans that have let their thinking age 2 the point of not being able 2 handle the twists and turns of P's musical output.

I'm old school and live in the NOW, and Prince still knows how 2 catch my ear and surprise me.

Not many artists can do that 2 me, but I can understand why... I have a diverse ear. I like the groove and i like changes.

If this sounds pretentious 2 some, so be it. But I've witnessed things like...

...Fans stating that they want more guitar. Prince delivers 'Planet Earth' and 'Lotusflow3r', and they complain. Yeah, yeah, yeah - I've heard the "Prince's fanbase is so diverse, it's a natural event" theory. No. They just can't keep up.

Much Love.

Giovanni777 Nailed it in his post. It truly reminds me of a post I wrote where I mentioned that some people just can't LISTEN to music anymore. I would be silly to say he is better now than he was back then...but he is delivering the goods, if you take the time to LISTEN to the music. Anybody can hear the Music....I like to call myself a "music snob." I either hear things others don't or others won't. That's Just the Way it is.

Hi Aluinimum and all.

I can understand that some people are shcckedby my comments but I disagree with you that The Cross is one of the best songs he has ever written?! We obviously prefer different types of music by Prince. To me, 20Ten reminds me a lot of the old school Prince from 1982-1984 which is a period that I love the music from.

I think some people think of Prince's music from the 1980's as "sacred"; no matter how much great new music he puts out noiw, it can never be better than the classic albums from the 1980's. I just tink each album should be judged on its own merits and seriously think that 20Ten is in my top 5 of Prince albums. I may be in a vast minority thinking this but regardless of that, that is still my point of view. I'm obciously not saying this to be popular but it's because what I like.

Having The Cross in the top ten of all Prince songs is interesting; what other songs are in your top ten ? Just curious.....

3121. Both albums have a consistently high level but the best songs on 3121 are better than the best songs on 20Ten. I'm referring to Lolita, Incense And Candles and Love.
