although... that might seem kinda weird to some. depends on the couple, i'd say

if you need something more traditional, go with a ballad like The One

yes i know... as i said, depends on the couple. some might find it a little too quirky.

I agree with those who've pointed out the "The Holy River" is a poor choice.

Apart from the final verse which mentions him asking a girl to marry him,

the rest of the song is all about regret, disconnection and despair, and

basically says that all human relationships are superficial and unfulfilling,

and you should give yourself over to God instead.

A much better choice would be "Adore" or a similar straight up song about

love and commitment.

We had Saviour as our first dance. I edited the end off so that it wasn't too long though.

We used 'With You' and it was beautiful! Many people (non-Prince experts, so to speak) asked what song it was and said they really liked it.

But the wedding party you need it for must be over by now...

Le Grind. played it at mine and it got the party STARTED

First Dance at our wedding was 'When 2 R in Love'. Gave the band my blessing to sing (and option to drop) the second verse. They chose the latter... Would've preferred the former but I respected their choice as they felt it was outside their comfort zone.
