but i dont think ur allowed to post vids of prince

he loves his designer labels doesnt he?

i wish none of that superificial nonsense could take a hold on him

but apparently it has.

i guess i can understand it though: you grow up in isolation being kicked around and under-loved

go out into the world with a passion for music and wanting to get somewhere better than where you are

hit up some success and a whole lotta money, suddenly the world is yours and you can pretty much do what you want, except free urself from the fame

all the attention puffs up the ego even more so you keep on struttin for some 30 years

but you got enough talent to back up all the ways you overcompensate for lack of self-esteem

try a few relationships you think you can control but discover the money cant keep the girl

rip down a couple houses and release a few more records and have as much freedom as you can get within the walls of altered reality

at the end of the day, when the last drop of sincerity has drained from the walls and no one you know loves you for you cuz you dont even know who that is anymore...

the only things left that matter anymore is the money and the music you make to make it

maybe heart

this too shall pass

Prince has never even come close to broke since his early days. Not with all the homes he owns, and investments.

Maybe, maybe not (touring at 70), but his royalties will be paid to him as long as he lives. And with his publishing worth around $200million dollars, I don't think he's ever in danger of being broke. Of course, you NEVER know tho..........

maybe it all hinges on whether he spends more than he makes ?

MJ was said to be broke despite what he was worth, although i dont know if that was true

hopefully prince's expenses will never dwarf his earnings, although it wouldnt surprise me if they do

he comes across as always scrambling around for money, i find it odd that he places such an importance on it for someone so apparently lucrative

maybe he knows he needs to keep earning big dollars to sustain his lifestyle

or do you think he's just greedy?

Obviously I don't know but I don't see it as greed. Firstly I think Prince is now wise enough to know he needs to hoard money for his future-when he was younger he would never think it was gonna end. I also feel he thinks he has been ripped off historically so now is almost doing catch up. Also what we see now is Prince relying on income outside record labels so we actually get to see his financial activities i.e. touring, newspapers etc He truly is a one man band

I don't think Prince will ever be broke. Firstly coz he has been burnt and secondly he doesn't have the outgoings he did i.e. Managers and leaving every bulb on in Paisly Park.

Having said all that I know it is crass but I would be curious to know his wealth

Yeh I've always wondered this. I remember the press etc going on about his finances in the early 90's but when you see the land he owns in Minneapolis and houses he has just knocked down and seems to be nothing with, why didn't he just sell it all at the time.

it'd be interesting to know how much he's wasted, and probably still does.

I'd like to see some of these article. I've been following Prince pretty closely since 1987, using the university's monthly listings of international periodicals + collections, etc before there was internet and sites like this that tracked everything for you.

And I never once thought Prince was reported to have financial problems by a credible source. Maybe I'm forgetting something?

I just remember past the D&P era video directors and cane makers were saying how they were not getting paid. Whether that was again finances or bad management I don't know. Also there was a documentary (BBC) about popstars wealth. The Prince one said he had lost a lot of money through legal stuff etc and was worth about £50 million-howver they said the way he was now doing stripped down touring etc he was set to become loaded again. Also they said he had too much staff and had downsized

in January 1995,there was a big article in the St.Paul Pioneer Press that detailed his financial problems at the time, but I don't know if that would be considered a "credible" source.
