Prince and the PMRC

With all the discussions involving Prince and the "Darling Nikki" back in the day, has he ever gone on record responding to any of that? Or did he just remain silent the entire time? I'm just curious. Frank Zappa seemed to defend him a lot. Did Prince ever mention that in an interview to anything?

And Prince wrote "Sugar Walls" right? Did he also play all the instruments on that song, too?

Yes, Frank Zappa was very active in this mid-80's debate, although his own music was never actually accused. Prince, as far as I know, never commented on the subject.

It's generally believed that Prince played everything on Sugar Walls. It was recorded in September, 1983 at Sunset Sound during the Purple Rain sessions, which saw Prince by himself in the studio. The production is credited to Alexander Nevermind.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I'd say the same thing.

I remember being so impressed with Frank Zappa's testamony in D.C. He was amazing!!!

I also remember wondering where Prince was in all that.

I don't think Zappa was popular enough to make the list but he sure could have been on it. His songs like Dyna Moe Hum and Crew Slut are a LOT more graphic than anything on that list with the possible exceptiopn of Nikki. We're Not Gonna Take It promotes violence?!

But of course that whole list is ludicrous. Why is interest in the occult considered obscene? Last I heard we had religious freedom in this country which includes the freedom to believe in the occult.

That said, I can see where they got the idea that "Let Me Put My Love Into You" might have some sexual content, and think it's important to put a warning label on the LP to protect little kids from hidden messages.

Nahhhh... Kids don't need to be protected from art. They should be exposed to it!

However, they do need to be raised correctly.
