Prince & David Bowie Collaboration - Good Idea?

I would totally love to see them do something on stage/ in the studio if they haven't already.

I love them both and I kinda have this sort of fantasy where David Bowie is belting out the

first verse of "Moonage Daydreams" my favorite song from him while Prince lets him have

on the guitar dressed up like a pimp like he did during the RRHOF ceremony back in 2004. lol razz wink

yes, maybe something like David Bowie / Freddie Mercury would be great: "Under Pressure" from 1981.

It would be amazing, even if it's just a one off live performance, but unfortunately it seems Bowie is retired for sure. sad

Not going to happen; if it didn't happened in the 80s or the early 90s, it won't certainly happen now, with the bored 00s Bowie semi-retired and the 00s paranoid Prince having no contact at all with any musical artist other than his own band and his singers-slaves...

No.

First of all, the room would collapse as soon as David walked in. The walls wouldn't be able to contain the sheer amounts of brilliant flooding in.

Second, they have two totally different styles of everything, not even in the same ballpark.

And with Bowie's wholehearted dislike of organised religion where the book on church etiquette is bigger than the book of faith, I would guess that the conversations in the room between the two would be .. erhm .. sparse.

How ever, if 1983-1988 Prince could meet 1973-1980 Bowie and make music .. I'd definitely listen.

I don't see why they wouldn't play around in the studio... Although in an interview in 1988, Bowie said he felt like Prince had lost his way after a peak with Purple Rain.

YES.

As a masssive David Bowie fan I would love to see something like this happen.

But please not a collaboration like the dreadful Queen/Bowie "under pressure"

If they were in the right mood something creative and experimental would be great to hear.

I would love Low era Bowie working with 1999 era Prince, Oh for a time machine wink

I'm sorry. What's so dreadful about it? IMO this is one of the greatest songs either Bowie or Queen ever did.

As much as I enjoy the vocals, I just find it a little bland.

Queen made some amazing albums that really excited me, but this song just didnt capture my imagination like I thjought it would. Maybe I was expecting too much.

Dreadful was perhaps an overstatement. Just not a favourite.

That's a fine thing for Bowie to say the year after Never Let Me Down lol

Back in one of those webchat things Prince did ten or so years ago, he was asked about collaborating with David Bowie. His response was that "you should have been there".

True another collaboration was supposedly with Morrisey. But you're right, the MTV awards in 1987 had Bowie live from the Glass SPider Tour, and then later on, Prince did SOTT/Play in the Sunshine and outdid Bowie by FAR.

But did read that interview with Bowie in which he was asked about hit singles, and he said he couldnt recognize what would hit or not in his own work, and then at some point later made the statement of Prince losing his way.

But... I love two songs on Never Let Me Down... the title track (great pop song) and then the one with a guest vocal by Mickey Rourke... Shining Star? is that what it's called? I never understood what was Rourke's voice on the track though.
