Got my physical copy of 20Ten in the USA!

Wow! the person I bought it from on that "online auction site" did a great job of shipping it fast. It is pretty much like the Musicology promo from the 2004 concerts, no liner notes, nothing. I can say it sounds a lot better in my stereo system than it did on the poorly sounding "leaked" tracks online. To me, it's a bit comparable to Planet Earth with a bit more funk, and less guitar. Fine album, especially for a 52 year old. Not groundbreaking, but I don't expect that from him anyways! By posting it, I feel like the kid who thinks he's the first one with a Scooby Doo Lunchbox, and then realizes everyone else has one too. UPDATE: I forgot to mention...The seller I bought 20Ten from sold it for less than Ten U.S. Dollars. They made no real profit. They had to go to a Wreck A Stow, or should I say urrr uh.. Paper A Stow? Anyway, they had to ship internationally, and will not likely make enough money to be buying a "White Mansion," anytime soon.

great... one thing though I know people are entitled to their opinions but 20Ten is nothing remotely like Planet Earth. The two peices of work are nothing alike stylistically. One is clearly an R&B record the other a pop rock number with one r&b and jazz slow jam thrown on

I say: Hmm, is Future Soul Song that far from Future Baby Mama?

I also say Walk In Sand could be traded for Lion Of Judah without hurting the structure of either album. The recording as a whole reminds me of Planet Earth, but I never said it was a direct copy either. Prince's "speak singing," is evident on both records. Compassion, Lavaux, and Act of God could have been on a 90's sequel to 1999, which is the obvious choice to compare 2010 to, but just because the Linn programming is straight outta 1982, doesn't mean I won't compare some of the structure to Planet Earth.. Not that big a deal, though.

I got mine also, yesterday. The artwork (the picture itself) has more details that I never noticed on the digital graphics floating around on the net. Too bad the cardborad sucked. Prince could have used a heavier cardstock (I think my Planet Earth I ordered from the newspaper giveaway was a thicker stock). I love the screen printing on the cd itself.

I'm not comparing the albums in content. I'm comparing the packaging for both newspaper releases.

So you're buying copies of the album from an online aution site from people who are, and let's be fair to them, complete cunts because they're selling something they got free.

The online auction site(s) in question should be shutting down all such auctions anyway. Whatever about an individual's choice to give money to arseholes who think it's fair game to take advantage of those who want a copy of the album, but auction sites are supposed to operate within the law and "For promotional use only. Not for resale." is pretty fucking clear.

I wish I'd bought a ton of Daily Mirrors because I'd quite happily have posted the album off to whomever wanted one (and happily paid for the postage myself) to stop this shit happening.

And there are people on here who bought (or were given) a few copies. Ask. I'm sure some of them would be happy to oblige.

BUt please don't support greedy cunts who think it's acceptable to make money from something they got for nothing. It would be morally more acceptable to download an illegal copy than to give money to these stupid greedy cunts.

The official site sends me a copy of the paper with the CD for 4.64GBP . That's about $7.1.

If I pay $10 to someone who takes the hassle out of getting the paper, packing it and sending it I'm giving him an extra $3

What can you do with $3 anyway? I think it's quite cheap. Obviously he's not making it for the money.

shrug

There was a little music shop in Gibraltar in Mt Clemens, MI that had about 10 of them yesterday. I bought one. Price is a little high at $25.00 but it was worth it to me instead of having to fool with trying to get one off of ebay or overseas. I didnt mind since I had it on hand. For all of you Detroit metro people its worth checking out.

If they're not in it for the money why are they being sold for more than 65p (plus postage, which for a CD from Ireland to the US would be €0.55, or €0.95 for a large (padded) envelope, and it probably costs less from the UK), so call it £1. or 1.50 max.

From the Daily Mirror website :

"Europe cost: 65p + £5.99 p&p; Rest of World: 65p + £5.99 p&p."

Just so I'm sure of what you're saying here.

It is less hassle for you to do this:

go look up an online auction site, find a copy of the album being sold by someone you most likely don't know, wait for the auction to complete (or I guess opt for the usually more expensive 'buy now' option), perform an online transaction to pay more for it than you would through the Daily Mirror website, and wait for the seller to (hopefully) post you your purchase

than it is for you to do this:

go to the Daily Mirror website, complete the online transaction, and wait for the Daily Mirror (whom I'm pretty sure you could consider to be a trusted seller) to post you your purchase.

The only up side I can see to buying it from an online autcion site is that most likely those sellers won't bother to post the newspaper along with the CD, thereby saving you the energy you might otherwise waste turning its pages, but whether it's worth paying a premium for that is debatable.

Plus, with the speed of the UK's postal service I doubt that many of the copies ordered from the Daily Mirror website have arrived yet, so any copies currently being sold through online auction sites were most likely bought on the day of the big giveaway, and therefore cost 65p. To pay more for them only encourages arseholery.

I think i'm gonna have 2 pull the trigger on this as i've heard zilch on a US release. I have a Bose sound system in the ride & have to take to 24 or 25 to feel the album & it still lacks punch cause of the duplication process. Ebay here I come!

I for one dont mind paying more to someone for convenience. I have done it before and dont mind doing it again. Whoever has what I need right there at that time if I want it i will buy it. Price doesnt really bother too much as long as its within reason. For instance a cd on average new cost 13-20. I paid 25 for 20ten but got it in person. I paid 30 for Exodus when it came out. 20ten is an import cd as well so it is right in line with that pricing. I look at it that thats ok. I know alot of people would not pay 25 and thats cool too. I dont knock them or knock anyone that pays more. We live in a world where you can buy from multiple sources. I know it was free overseas but I dont get too wrapped up into that. Dude had what I wanted. He made his money and I am happy with my purchase. Thats all that matters in my book. GRANTED - I think the album SUCKS Arse really bad and its not worth 25 buck realistacally. Its really worth free like it was given as far as quality of music BUT I am happy as I added it to the collection. No regrets at all!!

I paid 6 bucks for mine and that including shipping. I am happily playing mine right now. I was ok with the person making a little profit-going through the trouble of mailing it. Plus pounds are worth about 64 cents more than the dollar. So, ever 1 pound= 1.64 us.

I did both shrug

It took about 2 minutes to buy from eBay (payitnow) and 6 days to receive. Yes, I already got it nod

It took a little more to order from the Mirror site (about 4 minutes). I don't know when I'll receive that one.

The album is not available here in Finland, so my only choice is to order it from Amazon, which I did and I will get it sometime within the next couple of weeks.

I e-mailed Daily Mirror last week and they said, because of high demand they have established a link where you can order this particular issue. They won't sell the album individually which is understandable. Of course, postage & handling will be added to the bill. The issue might be on sale in Finland but of course, the album is not included.

The only problem is, I don't want the magazine because I don't want to finance that sort of a publication. So I don't mind paying someone else £5 plus postage. It's not like they're selling me a bootleg, this is the very same version that came with the magazine.

Besides, the album may be free but if someone plans on selling the album via Amazon, they still have to pay for the magazine itself in order to get the album. Right? Five quid is not much anyway, the profit is not huge. I don't know what the price is for getting an issue of Daily Mirror these days.

I agree with some of what you are saying, but i am willing to bet that a high percentage of those people who are selling copies of 20TEN on auction sites had to purchase the newspapers in order to get the cd, so they never really got the cd free. Situations like this will always have people taking advantage. It's all about supply and demand. As far as auction sites operating within the law, this is something which is overlooked a lot, very well known auction sites are teeming with promo only items, and in some cases blatantly obvious bootlegs.

I personally bought a few copies of 20TEN(and was later given some more) and sent them to people on the org as a gesture of goodwill. Which is not to say i did not think of putting some of them on an auction site.

I have it in FLAC & it still lacks the punch that an official release would have, although I know there's peolpe out here that could tweak the SHAT out of it! I just ordered on off ebay for $14.99 with free shipping & if it's released in the states with different packaging i'd purchase another.

Lol what kind of publication is it,,,, ur making out like it's a porn mag or something ?

It's a national newspaper , you would not be funding anything other than the news from that day no different to you buying the Helsinki Times...
