i really hope he buys it, prince.com would be such a catch for him, if people hear his stuff on the radio and catch its by prince, they will automatically try prince.com, it is a permanant address for him not affiliated with any project or era and even if he were to use it simply to display his impressive back catalogue or promote whatever new project he comes up with next, it would be his one official online presence that the casual fan/interested mtv2 etc watcher could locate easily, i hope he gets it, and i hope he purchases it for the lowest price on offer too. he is through with the internet, but in order to compete in todays market he still needs some sort of permanant online presence and prince.com would be functional, easy to find and always relevant to whatever he does in his life (all name change jokes aside) but he probably may not feel it is worth the money, i know i wouldn't ever pay out that kind of money as it would bankrupt me, but he lives in a slightly different world to me, so maybe in his world that amount of money isn't TOO much for a permanant and sensical website! 1800newfunk, npgmc, 3121, lotusflow3r, mplsound-was that ever actually affiliated?, emale, love4oneanother, npglimited/online? chelsearodgers ..the 3121 perfume site in all honesty muct add up to the same amount as prince.com surely? so wouldn't it be a good business investement? i just want as many people as possible, especially of my age (late teens early twenties) to discover prince, a beautiful gem in a sea of dirty pebbles amongst the ke$ha's and the katy perry's of the business.. i genuniely believe that real music is dying out, style over substance and all that, and prince is one of a handful of artists who continues to preserve it, although obviously as any human being would making a few bizarre turns along the way. his name needs to be out there and access needs to be simple.. fair enough he doesn't want his old stuff all over the internet, it's his image and it's his entitlement to distribute/not distribute it as he wishes, but not even having a proper official outlet for his newest projects and a space to make statements (on the few occasions it appears to him necessary) rather than make veiled statements through dr funkenberry and the like, the better. prince is private and that is completely understandable, but besides the newspaper giveaways and the concerts he gives, he isn't exposed at all, underexposure has a lot to be said about it, but in this day and age having o web presence at all i fear may lead him in to a a relative obscurity as the lady gagas of this world get weirder and wackier. prince doesn't need to compete with the ridiculous spectacle of today's music scene, his talent does so completely unaided, but i feel he does neeed at least a basic, easy to find web presence, that he can update and delete as much as he wishes, just one easy to keep track of, sensical space. i love prince, i don't want for my peers and the people younger than me to miss out on him because they are plugged into an electronic world which he doesn't inhabit. prince i spast the point where he needs gimmicks, wild costumes or strange behaviour, he is an icon in his own right, a songwriter alongside the beatles, arguably the mozart of our day and age.. and he needs a permenant easy to find webspace to show the often forgetting world just what a musical prodigy he is.. prince.com is so perfect, i just hope he sees that. **NPGMC refugee**

Well said g3121! Perhaps Prince does want to keep a lower profile to some degree, but having a permanent place on the web can only be beneficial. At a minimum it would be a great place to post current happenings, concerts, merchandise, etc. even if he doesn't want to produce a new/formal web presence.

come on ppl, how can anyone justify that much money for a domain name?? ain't there better things to do. whenever prince opens his mouth, people are all ears. wouldn't be hard to find him when he wants to let us know. ∞ ʀ⁅VERB⁆я ∞

the owner may have been able to get big bucks like that during the dot com bubble, but even then, it is unlikely. This is not really the time to be trying to get rich off of a domain that only a few entities could rightly own (the tennis and spaghettie companies for instance... is the spaghetti co still around?).
