Why has Prince never worked together with.... 1. Bootsy 2. Herbie Hancock 3. Paul McCartney
IMO, these people would make VERY interesting combinations with Prince. Imagine a fat funk album with Bootsy, a jazz album with Herbie (real jazz, Prince singing standards, not "smooth" jazz) or a pop album with sir Paul (ATWIAD part 2). I hope one or more of these meetings will take place in the future....

I would absloutly LOVE it if Herbie Hancock would let one of his vintage moog synth let loose or play one of his moody acoustic solos in a Prince song,,,,,but its only a "would", just a wishful thinking.

If that was true, then Prince is even more hopelessly ignorant than we thought. Bootsy and Herbie are amazing.

Bootsy does his own thing and it's possible they didn't even met. I think Bootsy basically isn't interested.
Herbie is more on the conservative side alongside Quincy Jones and others who are more in the "We are the world" league. It's likely they never met either and Herbie probably isn't interested either.
I can hardly see what the hell Prince and McCartney could be doing together in a studio. Different worlds, really.
Even though Prince responded a few invitations to "guest" on other people's albums (Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder, Rhonda Smith, Common, Ani DiFranco and No Doubt), he's not a collaborative artist proper: usually Prince does invite other artists to contribute his music when they can fully integrate it and become part of it: in other words if you wanna work with Prince you gotta fit somewhere in his music. Obviously there never was a circumpstance where he felt the people you mention would, and they probably never had any reason to invite Prince to play on their own records. Yeh I understand what you are saying but Prince can back it up. Sting is the epitomy of his teacher background-Prince is his own thing. Sting can sing about turtles and Russians and .... whatever. Prince has more vanity than anybody but it is almost who he is. Sting educates and gets nose jobs/moles removed/promotes transic sex/gives Madonna a honeymoon vacation in Wiltshire and then writes morobund, tedious wank whilst singing black throat cancer vocals. The Police were reggae inspired shit and in that era shows you how willful he was. That is not artistic freedom-it is pretentious posturing. Prince has been on a journey-Sting is a self righteous cock

Wellllll okay, maybe, but I still enjoy a lot of his stuff. And, as opposed to Prince, he has the sense to see that his own songwriting-skills have faded away, so he records old (classical) songs now - two albums that are not for everyone's taste, but are really good.

Didn't Sting & Prince share the same stage at one point? It was short lived but,,,,,,amusing.

Do you believe sting sees it that way? Sorry I shouldn't argue with you. It happens all the time here I know. I just almost (and I'm sorry Ive read your profile) pathologically hate Sting second to Paul MCartney. I just see them as wannabees. Trust me I like the Beatles so I'm not pushing that argument-I just see them as an Ilk of the worste of English. Now Today is Kate Bush's birthday-now there is talent.

Maybe I do have strange taste in music... I have all of the Beatles/Paul McCartney records, all Kate Bush records and all Prince records until Rave... But don't worry, I don't PRince should collaborate with Sting or Paul.... Now paul with sting on the other hand... but I'm gonna make you sick again!

I apologise again--sorry. I don't want to be a ranter. Actually I do think that the McCartney thing with Sting would work. It is a very English sound. so...Honestly I am sorry Pentacle

McCartney and Sting have worked together once. It just remains unreleased. Same thing with Stewart Copeland and Peter Gabriel.

No need to apologize!
And who knows, Paul is re-releasing all this albums with bonustracks, so if CB70 is right we might get to hear Paul & Sting sing together (about rainforests?), and Prince might release the sex tape of him and Stella McCartney - ooh baby

It would be very interesting indeed. And I would add Me shell Ndegeocello to the list. I like Steve Vai, but I cant think of a collab between them, only if Prince was on bass / keys.

I'd love to see Prince working with Take That.

You probably do
Personally, Tom Jenkinson (aka Squarepusher) would be the choice collaboration right now. He is the best bass-player in the world right now and certainly at the cutting edge of electronica production and studio wizardry. Prince would definitely get off on Tom's abilities and, well, I think sparks would fly and creative juices would flow ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Check Bootsy's 2002 album "Play with Bootsy". There are some very Prince-sounding tracks on that album (which also features Rosie Gaines!). Some people even thought that Prince was actually on this record (under the name of "one"). If Bootsy wasn't interested in the music of Prince, he would not record such tracks.
To call Herbie Hancock's conservative shows that you are not too much aware of his legacy in music. The man played with allmost every icon in popular music (from Miles Davis to Carlos Santana to Joni Mitchell), as well as being an innovator himself in every post-bop jazz style. Besides covering Prince on record (Thieves in the temple), he even played on a paisley park album already....
Well, and finaly Paul McCartney. He and Prince may well be from somewhat different worlds (in your opinion, in mine they both live on the same planet). But wasn't Lisa Coleman from quite another background than Prince? Nevertheless, they made some very beautiful music together (where Lisa's role was more than just a "guest").
With Prince coming in another stage of his life, there might be a chance that he is willing to let some control go, opening up for more musical input from others. This could be a great opportunity for him to give a boost to his creativity. Nice as they are, we can not live with another decade of albums like "3121" and "20TEN". The three musicians I mentioned, or other people with similar creative power, would make great and valuable partners in exploring new musical roads. Personally, I would never like to rule out even the smallest chance of such encounters to happen ..... not in the last place for the the joy it gives of just thinking about it....

You know, that'd be something else. Like some "Chameleon/Spook Who Sat"-style stuff, with modulations and squiggles galore. Yes, ma'am.
My vote goes to Marcus Miller. These cats together would be crazy.
