One Nite Alone...Studio Piano Version

I just got One Nite Alone... "from a friend".

Takes a while to get into.

What are the highlights?...and lowlights?
How can a non-musician discuss the future of music
From anything other than a consumer point of view?

The highlight by far is "Avalanche" which is, imo, the most
accomplished Prince song in a long long time.

It's brilliant from the first note on, but the second verse
is absolutely breath-taking.

The vocal delivery, the lyrics, the whole damn atmosphere
and than that chorus rolling over it.

But hey, the rest is pretty cool too. I like all of those
songs, except perhaps "objects in the mirror" which has a
couple of the most daft lyrics ever.

I mean "put my load in the dryer" ? Come on.

I have to say that I don't paticularly like this album. I can see why some would, but it doesn't do much for me. The only song I really like is Pearls b4 the Swine.

avalanche is truly outstanding. Im only just really discovering it, and it just gets better with every listen.

It riles me to think that many people will simply not hear this song as its been buried on a fan club only album. He should have put ONA out for general release.

But it does make you wonder what will happen if he records
10 different albums [like One Nite Alone for example] and
then pulls the best 1 or 2 songs off each of them and puts
them onto one incredible cd. or double cd.

Imagine that, a whole album jam packed with songs in every
style, all as brilliant as "Avalanche".

Argh. I'm starting to hyperventilate.
