Beautiful Strange video Hey
I just saw the video and the legend says "taken from the 1998 special". Was it broadcast back then? I remember a snippet being on the "Beautiful Strange" video but since i never saw the original VHS i had no clue about the whole song being on it.
So... does someone know when/where it was made available? The VHS? A TV show?

Yes, it was recorded at Cafe De Paris on August 27th, 1998 and then broadcast sometime thereafter. A commercial VHS tape of it was available from NPGMC. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Ok, so the whole song actually was on the VHS
Thanks Squirrel
Could someone tell me what the actual sequencing of the VHS was?
I know there was the Mel B. interview, a short snippet of Beautiful Strange with Prince answering some phonecall, the Café de Paris concert and now the full Beautiful Strange video. In which order was the whole thing?

It's been a while since I fired up my VCR, but if i remember right, the sequence is:
Beautiful Strange interruption/Mel B interview/Cafe De Paris/Beautiful Strange promo video/Come On promo video If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The broadcast was part of a 6 hour tv special devoted to Prince by Channel 4 TV in the UK. The date was 24th Oct 1998. The special was entitled An evening of music, chat, and live performance with The Artist Formerly Known As Prince.
Interestingly, i have noticed a blunder in "The Vault" book. When describing the contents of the Beautiful Strange video, it states that the Cafe De Paris performance was filmed at Londons "Brixton Academy."
