If 20Ten is released in the U.S.,...

Do you think that the sales would not be good since it took so long to release it here, and that many people got it from the internet or Ebay or imported?

If it is released, and was featuring a dvd or another disc of music, would you purchase it now that you've heard some of the new music? Just wondering.

I think it would be as successful as the last few albums. That's not saying much, though.

I am a bad girl & got it from .... somewhere .... but I will/would definitely buy it. Regardless of bonus materials. It would make me feel a little better about the way I obtained it. smile

if its promoted anything like his last few albums, it might be top 5 in its first week, but go under the radar. Its a shame, cause I think there's a few songs he could have fun with promoting, make a few videos; of course as a fan I would love that, but its up to Prince, but a lot of this album is radio friendly, in a good way.

He needs help, like one of the songs being in a movie or on a TV show (as I posted in another thread, if "Glee" gets ahold of "Everybody Loves Me" he's got a number one hit!).

20Ten is by far his most radio friendly album in years, I just dont think the masses will give any new Prince music the time of day, regardless of how good it is.

He needs help!

I'd buy it, but I'm not holding my breath about a DVD release.

How much did his past albums sell? Not great considering so many people download stuff anyway.

The album will be out later in the summer, according to a recent article by The Current (ALLEGEDLY).

Saying that 20ten is 'radio friendly' in the US is hardly a term of endearment.

I think most people will buy it even if they've already obtained it in other ways.. I know I will. Like some have said, it'll most likely sell as well as his last few releases, which is lucrative for him but disappointing for us... as we'll want a big release w/ lots of promo, tour etc... we'll see... fingers crossed!

I got it on Ebay, but will still buy a North American copy for 2 reasons:
1) packaging will probably be better quality
2) I have a moral obligation to support since I'm enjoying (like I would never dream of stealing a pair of cute shoes and then dance around in them)

It will be released in the US through WB But repackaged. It will be a new promotional campaign with all new songs including the mega hit album......20TEN. Which will lead to the new remastering deal & ownership of his masters through the WB.

That's a lie. You mentioned this before as hoping it would be something different. You said it "had to be" something bigger, because why else would Prince have a deal with WB. As explained to you before, Prince and WB will always have business to discuss. ALWAYS! They hold his back catalog. Part of his separation contract stipulated that Prince has final say-so in what WB releases (perfect, and oft-repeated example with Ultimate), so no matter what comes out, including but not limited to this probable one-off independent distribution of 20Ten, Prince and WB will always be doing business.

Which means there is something coming out or Prince wouldn't have given info to Dr. FB about it. Which he always does when something big is getting ready to happen. Plus the hints he has given that his next album is completed......Of course he will always have business with WB. But sending the info to Dr. FB is an added clue that something big is happening.

His many hardcore fans will buy it as usual which might possibly make it chart. After that, it will sink. It doesn't matter how good or how bad an album Prince makes these days, it will not be a huge success because this is the shit hop era. Even if he gave in and completely sold out to their sound, they still consider him "that fag from the 1980s".

^^^ Let's not forget that a #1 album these days doesn't even have to be 500,000 copies sold. What did Lotusflow3r sell its first week? 146,000 or something like that? Keith Urban sold a mere 3000 more or so to be #1.

"Success" has been largely redefined in the past 10 years.

In 2000 people were still selling millions, not thousands. It was only 10 years ago that Nsync sold over 2.4 million copies in its FIRST week, and sold almost 10 million by the end of 2000. It was also the biggest selling of that decade (00's). I doubt any artist, even Nsync, could achieve record sales like that these days.

So what will 20Ten do? Sell the same 140K, then fall away. All us superfans will buy it, most will download it, and Prince will have gotten his money anyway. I'll buy it because I want both the UK and US releases (I have the UK CD).

I believe Dr. Funkenberry reported a couple years back that either Coachella or Montreux Jazz festival would be released on dvd as well & we all know where that went. It's up to Prince in the end!

If Prince were to release 20Ten with a dvd, which shows would you all like to see? the O2 arena shows would be nice if the video was clear, unlike a lot of footage from other dvd releases. What do you all think?

As far as another album completed, does anyone have confirmation of this or is it just a rumor? I'm sure he has recorded music because he is so prolific, but how do we know that he has another album recorded? Anyone? smile

I haven't seen any footage of the 02 shows, but I'd love to see the complete Coachella concert. My second choice would probably be The Montreux Festival from last year. If it's possible to clean up and or restore some of his concerts he recorded from the eighties, I'd pay good money for any or all of them. Guess I just want too much.wink

Don't know a thing about what Prince may have cooked up for us next. shrug

Exactly. It'll be good to see him chart though. And you're spot on about their attitude towards Prince because I've seen those comments about what you just quoted, that's exactly what they say about him. smh
