Alternative Songs to the Past 10 to 20 Years?

A while ago, some orgers posted some songs that they liked in contrast to what Prince has been producing for the past 10 to 20 years. But in that tread, if I remember correctly, it was more about certain artists who they felt were being more creative than Prince.

With that said, I'm interesting in seeing folk who feel that Prince has not produced much or any creative songs for the past 10 to 20 years provide a list of ten non-Prince songs that have been released within the past 10 to 20 years that they like much more than what Prince has released.

My goal is not to follow each post with the standard "WTH," "WTF," or anything that demeans or attempts to marginalize anyone's tastes. I am thinking/hoping that these lists will give me some perspective of the tastes and styles/genres of music preferred by the orgers who have been less than moved by Prince's last 10 to 20 years of productivity.

Of course, if this thread/topic has been discussed enough and I just happened to have missed it, the mods should lock this thread at once.

Interesting thread idea.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Are these songs? I don't get it, which means that I may be too obtuse or limited in my exposure to enough music to know when someone is making fun of me or my idea.

Thanks. I think that one of the reasons that there are so many spirited debates on this site is because Prince's diverse style connects with so many different type of people. I'm hoping that this tread will give me some idea of some of the many as well as more dominate tastes or styles of music that orgers like and how close to or how far from those tastes and styles Prince's output has been over the past 10 - 20 years.

SpinLight and Sirweasel thanks. I know none of these songs or artists, excpet for Winehouse's work. I'll have to do some internet searching to listen to these songs.

CCCP

Not songs, but artists. I don't care for much contemporary music, so I'm lacking:

Newly Discovered:
Valerie June - roots/country; have not heard enough and I don't know if I can stick around, but never saw this coming - check her website or youtube
Kimya Dawson - more likely to stick with her than VJ

Contemporary as I can get:
Santogold
TV On the Radio
Martina Topley Bird

Poets/Singers/Songwriters:
Jeffrey Gaines
Carl Hancock Rux

Others:
Keziah Jones
Joi
Chocolate Genius
Family Stand/Sandra St. Victor
Follow For Now/David Ryan Harris
Subject to Change/Cree Summer
