Then til Now [Prince Drama]

Gone are the days when you could turn on MTV, BET and VH1 and see a cool Prince or Prince & The Revolution video.

Gone are the days when an album would come out and there was be a visual picture of what the album was all about, with the tours, video and a wardrobe.

Question ...

With all the drama we know about today: lawsuits, closed websites and other, I consider 'trivial' points, is it still 'fun' being a fan of P's music or would you consider it all just part of the experience.

I choose the later, I feel it's all apart of the experience and it's all about the music.

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

It took me a long time to figure this one out (not meaning your question, just how I felt). I totally lost interest in Prince after 1997 and was always "waiting" for the next Purple Rain, Diamonds and Pearls, Come, The Gold Experience...which never came. I still would always buy the new cd and give it a listen and toss it in the back of my closet with the rest. I finally realized I can still find him very entertaining and fun to watch and listen to. Just the pre 1998 Prince, though!

the drama makes it harder for me to have a good time with the music

on occasion, its a real turn-off

"the internet is dead" for example - all i could think was wow this next album better be slammin

so i listen with a much keener ear and am far less forgiving of sub-standard output

the drama with the lawsuits also paints prince in a very different light to the picture he paints of himself as an artist

the drama surrounding his 'love-life' is also a challenge when it comes to listening to his 'love songs' and other songs about relationships cuz...

a real man doesnt love a million different girls, he loves one girl in a million different ways

i have a strong belief in a lot of different things, and when prince's drama is in direct conflict with my beliefs it makes it harder to appreciate the music

this too shall pass
