Sometimes I come to this board and I just shake my head at the vitriol and insecurity of the Prince "fans" that post here.

Prince's CAREER is making music and getting paid for it, which he still does at a really good clip. That's been the only career he's ever had. It's 2010 and he hasn't strayed from that CAREER.

Understand that Prince's CAREER is NOT finding ways to get the tabloid and entertainment shows to merely cover his comings and goings so that he LOOKS like he's still relevent and in the cultural mainstream. He's not Madonna. He doesn't have any kids to pimp out and shill clothing lines with in the magazines and all over the internet. Madonna has done nothing artistically relevant in a long ass time, but her fans are not embarrassed by her and worrying about her CAREER. Because being Madonna is her career. She's no more an artist than a Kardashian.

Prince's CAREER is not resting on his legacy and basking in his status as a legend like Stevie Wonder or Eric Clapton or Sting, making a little appearence here and there and letting a prolonged studio album absence act a type of currency for critics who are all too eager to sound the alarm on his return and severely overrate the album. That's how those artists have decided to age. Not Prince. Nah, he chooses to put out mediocre album year after year, with 2 or 3 good songs on them. So what? His choice.

His CAREER isn't being an addict and nutjob and having everybody rooting for his return to glory. He's not Whitney or Mariah. He's not gonna appear to be culturally relevant by smoking crack and marrying a corny ass Nick at Nite alum. He just didn't choose that route.

Basically, I just don't get the perspectives offered by some of you about Prince's CAREER. I just don't understand. None of his peers are still putting out top 10 singles or even albums and you guys constantly keep waiting for him to defeat history. Old ass artist just don't do numbers. Get over it. He had his time as a multi-platinum artist and it's over. Why do you have to feel ashamed a Prince fan and whine about what he's not doing these days and how not cool he is? I don't get it. He's not gonna work with any young producers and make himself look even older and wacker, not to mention DESPERATE, so y'all can stop making those threads.

When will you people stop holding out hope that he's going to be at the forefront of zeitgeist again? 2004-2005 was about as good as it's gonna get. That was a pretty good run. Be happy, stop hating and shut up.

Sometimes I come here and shake my head at people who are unable to share a thought or express an opinion without telling people with opposing opinions that they need to shut up as if their point of view is fact rather than just one opinion among many others.

Unless you own or moderate this site, you don't have the option of silencing anybody.
