Rave In2 is I believe the only Prince album I do not have and cannot seem to find.

The Universe is being kind to you, honour it with a gift of fruit or a random act of kindness.

If only it had prevented me from finding the 1999 Masters CD I'd say New Power Soul as well but do love at least 2 songs from it smile

Per Nilsens "The Vault."

And the only other track known to be slated for the Beautiful Strange album was a cover of Joni Mitchell's "Twisted".

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

i still like the original version of "beautiful strange" a lot more. the 'new' version on Rave In2

is cool enough but the original, stripped down, simple version is just haunting as hell and too

beautiful.

Was that the version that was an NPGMC download? It's the only other version i have.........i think.

Must search my outakes.

What a dick. These things just used to make me shake my head in sadness that the once all-embracing Lovesexy dude is now so doggedly blinkered and opinionated.

I wonder what the JW's say about Prince behind his back? I can't imagine they're all overjoyed with him representing the faith. His $ is probably what most interests that cult, much like the Scientologists out in Hollyweird.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall in that porch. Having said that, I bet he's responsible for more converts than most.

There are only 2 official versions. A rip of the VHS (original) version was on the bootleg Apotheosis. I think you're correct that it also showed up at one point as an NPGMC mp3 download. An mp3-sourced(?) copy was on The Work Volume 7 as well.

I have a decent fan-made remix of Beautiful Strange too.

If I remember the original NPGMC had a cool little flash intro with the guitar intro from Beautiful Strange accompanying it.

Can't remember when it was exactly though.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

yesterday (23 july) he played 'beautiful strange' in the new morning club in paris. it was so great you went nuts.

i don't like the rave album at all, yet he also played 'i love u but i don't trust u anymore' - and live, it was fabulous... just he and renato...

He tears that shit up every time he plays it.

If I'm ever in doubt as to whether I want to download a show, the presence of Beautiful Strange clinches it. I've never heard a bad performance of it.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

What I remember more though was the snippet from the Moneyoplis mix of Undisputed . . .

I think it was for product differientiation.

With Arista releasing Rave Un2, his website needed something to get people interested enough to sign a hefty priced CONtract online to join his membership-based site.

Giving people Rave In2 was enough for most to agree to do it.

I think he was actually trying back then to get fans to buy into the online experience, but he was just at a artistic (and I'll go ahead and say it---spiritual) lull. Mayte's marriage to him was obviously on the rocks, and there were all sorts of personal and financial problems at that time.

I differ from most folks in that I dislike Rave In2 even more than I dislike Rave Un2, though I think Rave Un2 is actually on par with D&P lol,

Prince would have needed a truly inspired work of genius with tons and tons of videos, appearances, and promotion.

He did make several appearances, but they were duds. He appeared on TRL ...with fucking Larry Ass Graham and Old diva-ass Chaka-mad Khan whofarted and then attempted to diss the host before getting his ass served to him.

He appeared on MTV's music awards dressed in a neon blue outfit and hair ribbons but didn't bother to perform. (I'm convinced his decent performance with Beyonce during his Musicology career redemption gave his presence a boost).

His spirit just wasn't there. He just didn't do much to get people interested in his material...which was lackluster at that time at best.

The Musicology Prince was much, much, muuuuuuuuch more engaging and uplifting....too bad the music wasn't that much better. lol

Gotta say: you aren't the only one who likes Un2 better than In2 ... I was actually thinking about it this morning, as I was listening to Un2 on the way to work. I find most of the remixes and extended versions far inferior to their original counterparts, and the inclusion of "Beautiful Strange" doesn't quite make up for missing "Everyday..." and "Strange but True" for me. Though, the lack of the promotional plug at the end of the album is a plus...

=0P

That verse is so cool.

I remember hearing that clip about a year before the album was eventually released and I so badly want to hear the whole thing....
