20Ten's song that's grown on you the most

Sticky Like Glue

The more I listen to this song, the more I'm thinkin' it's a jam!

I didn't like it the first bunch of listens, but it's winning me over.

I can't imagine saying "You and me are sticky like glue" to my girlfriend without her slapping the smile off my face, but aside from the cheesy title, and the average rap, the music keeps me groovin'!

It's got a classic old school vibe, and sounds good when played LOUD.

I'm listening to it now... and it's actually my second or third favorite song on 20Ten... behind Beginning Endlessly.

Yeah... he's rockin'... great tune!!

At least he didn't say "Sticky like cum" LOLOL (Sorry)

The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

Probably Lavaux. My initial impression is that it was rather forgettable, but now it's one of my favorites. Also Act of God.

On the opposite end, Beginning Endlessly has cooled for me a bit.

None are growing. They all platued pretty early on. Within the first couple of days.

I would say the ones I like are Beginning Endlessly, Act of God, and Lavuex. But the vocals on them are a bit .... lacking in 'umph' so I kind of just listen to them from time to time mostly to see if I'll still like them. And I do...I just don't LOVE them.

strangely, Act of God. on 1st listen, it was not an immediate fav,

but after many listens with both earphones and loud speakers,

i have come to dig it extremely. the beat is great, and I love the

synths that ride on top of the bass line. the "choir" chant at the

end of "call it what u want, 'cept an Act of God" sounds powerful

n Funky.

ppl may want to diss Prince for singing these lyrics, but he's

speaking about real things that happened to many families across

the globe affected by the financial miss-management by the

banks, financial houses, etc.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Future Soul Song

Fell in Love with that one right away. It seems the vocals are from another Prince era, background sounds a bit like a much older Prince (for you?)

Lavaux

I really dig the groove of that one

Sticky Like Glue

Strangely enough it sounds like a nice cut from 'Off the Wall' by MJ. It has a Jackson 5 vibe, and Prince has been playing some in concert recently

Sticky'. At first, the rap annoyed me majorly, but now it's a minor thing. The rest of the album hasn't changed much. Still great stuff.

Everybody Loves Me

I'll give it another spin later on... it has the feeling of kinda half-assed demos. But maybe half a Prince ass is enough to earn a passing grade.

I know it is not a favorite on here, but I just love his vocals on this one...and I even dig the lyrics. I'm a sucker for any time he throws his name into a song, as far back as Private Joy.

And the background vox on this one are dreamy, especially towards the end when they sing, "Wiiiiilderne-ehsssssss!"

Also when he sings "I'd die without you..." -- to me it's just a fantastic Prince ballad and I've been playing it a lot. I much, much, MUCH prefer it to Future Soul Song.

Compassion, definitely. But that is because I thought it sucked initially.

Beginning Endlessly has actually shrunk on me. Same with Future Soul Song, the rest are kinda "meh." Sticky Like Glue is still my favorite, but I am not loving it or even liking it any more than the forst tim I heard it.

that's kind of a cool song, it seems like it has more musical substance than most others on the album. The structure is kind of unclear and the vocal arrangement seems pretty complex. A bit like Adore, Scandalous, or Insatiable, it seemed really meandering the first time I heard it but it has grown on me.

Given that I hated it when I first heard it, I'd say 'Compassion' has travelled the most distance in the likeability stakes for me.

yes, me too, and for the same reason. I really have grown to like it by the end, even thought the beginning still sounds pretty cheesy.

Sticky like glue is one of my fav (it has that 70's feel..somewhere in the way it's sung)

but Lavuax, Lay Down (if I hear the Purple Jotta-line once,it's stuck in my head 4 hours lol)

and Act Of God.

Like I said when I first heard this album: the songs are really good,

no matter what someone may think about the music/sound (wich I like more&more).

I like the Sea of Everything and Walk in the Sand -at first I thought they dragged the album down, but actually they are really strong songs - and he kills it on vocals in Sea of Everything - when it drops at the end to just his voice - the gymnastics and control he displays are breathtaking. Imho.
