Actually by the way prince was looking at the bet awards at A. Keys I'm pretty sure he's been inside of her. Just my opinion. And I think that would be an intersting collab

Prince should never work with any producer, especially a hip hop producer. All hip hop is garbage.

QuestLove is the match for Prince as far as Hip Hop Producers. Mutual respect is very important and Prince got love for the Roots and Q as a Musician. Plus, Q knows the history and can articulate what he believes as a musician works for Prince. His work with Al Green closed the argument for me, he took what was great about Al's 70's output and put a modern spin on it which resulted in a modern classic. I would also include DÁngelo in on these sessions. I'm not sure Prince (if it ever entered his mind) could have the same level of respect for a younger producer from the Hip Hop community that he does for Q. There has to be a relationship in order for Prince to give away that kind of control.

The problem with hip-hop producers, imo, is that they work within a very set range of "beats" (which is to say, drum patterns) and then add either the sounds they hear in their heads or samples of somebody elses music. Prince has more sounds in his head than are good for him, a ton of his own (evidently) pre-set drum patterns and absolutely no need to sample anybody elses music. I would like to hear what would come of Prince working with a solid producer, but none of the hip-hop guys would be on my list. My list would be, like, Quincy Jones, Rick Rubin, Trent Reznor (would never happen, but I'd love it if it did!), Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno. I'm sure I could think of some others if I really tried. But basically producers who have worked with other mega stars and would have enough confidence to let Prince be Prince, but still be strong enough to tell him "no, you can do better". Even if you don't like their music, listen to the sounds that Rick Rubin has pulled out of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. How it sounds both warm and crisp at the same time on CD. I'd love to hear what would come from Rick hanging with Prince in some studios for about six months.

After hearing what Rick Rubin did with Neil Diamond a few years ago, I would love to hear a Prince/Rubin collaboration, myself.

see, talk, feel............................etc,....................etc,

Prince doesn't need a producer! swizz beats got nothing on prince.

If Prince wanted a hit he could easily sign a record contract with the major companies and don't release another album for 3 years, promote it, advertise it, world concert have videos done, Tv appearances, radio etc and believe me he will get those hits.

I'd rather he worked with Aphex Twin. Just because it's the weirdest I could think up right now.

He don't need beats or hits.

He just needs somebody to say to him:

"Take off the lid, allow yourself to express sincere anger, sincere love, sincere lust, all of your real emotions at 50 something. It sounds like you're politely self censoring your human condition to please your God at his very private very VIP banquet, not admitting to yourself that the conflicts between what you are and what you want to be is what make it worthwhile for the listner, and besides if your mission is to turn people to God, know that they won't listen to canonized, self assured preaching, only religious rogues with more questions than answers (remember the story of Jesus?)".

And repeat every five minutes.

I wish the things Prince sang about came across as real emotions, and not illustrations to a point, and I wish his music would play with the same unavoidable importance and sincerity.

I don't care about hits, I don't care about zeitgeist flavour and I most certainly don't care about how tall any producer is.

I will not diss Swizz Beats because obviously he found a market for what he does. I understand why we beat this subject to death about bringing in a producer because the curiousity over what sounds would come out of it is fascinating to think about. However, we need to go "deeper" than Swizz Beats.

It would need to be someone who can connect with him mentally as well as musically. As far as I can see the only one who can do that at the moment is..........well nobody.

What MAN does Prince respect enough to produce him?. Think about this for a minute. I honestly believe it was up to him it would be just him and an entire world full of women. I do not think its a coincidence that he approved women to do his BET Tribute. He just does not seem to vibe with any man enough to just hand over the production reins. He is 52 and it has not happened yet.

He is going to continue to produce himself and we just have to live with the consequences.

Wow..I totally understand that. However I don't know if Prince has ever been SO personal about his feelings in his music too much. he have at least always had a song here or thee but his songs are not always deeply personal and have always associated with God in some fashion...Lets see.. When Doves Cry...

Sexuality maybe..

Lovesexy...

God

4 The Tears In Your Eyes

Annie Christian

Big House

Race

Papa

Emancipation

I mean I thought Act Of God and Lavaux were a bit personal...I can sense his anger with having to pay taxes. It seems Prince more so does not let himself go on tracks on his personal life too much..they are more so thoughts and feelings at the time.

And I do agree with you there that they seem more..illustrated now than personal..If I was still associated with religion I felt closer with Prince on the "mission" where now it feels..forced and contrived. NOt that he has never loved God..but he sounds more so out of the picture..not with the people.

Prince at 52 will never let some younger dude now more than ever produce him. He is to into his own talent & ego for that. QuestLove I agree will be perfect though with D'angelo who I always felt is Prince heir apparent. I remember QuestLove did a tribute song to Prince a few years ago that captured Prince sound perfectly. But that is never going to happen. Prince did produce "The Artist" on Rave un2 & n2 the joy fantastic..lol & thats the closest anyone ever going to get. I still feel Prince doesn't need it. He has worked with a few rappers like Q-tip & ChuckD & Doug E fresh & Eve. People need to be content with that & let Prince be Prince. Because 20TEN is a masterpiece if marketed right has big potential.........

I feel you on this post, but I don't think Prince would 'let' anyone produce him. Closest (and in my opinion, the best) option would be for those 3 to be in the studio just jamming and experimenting for about a week. Questo and D could get their input, then Prince would take it, hook it up and release a 3 disk set, lol.

1 - Because you smoked a hell of a lot of weed and thought it made sense.

2 - Because if Swizz Beats is going to die off soon he should drag somebody besides Alicia Keys down with him.

3 - Because Prince really does have two sides and neither of them are friends any longer!

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
